    STILL GOT MINE!
    Graduated in 1980 -------
still got my 1970 SS454 chevelle & its still 'NICE'

in the early 80s there were chevelles on every street
all across the country. seems everyone owned one
    at one time or another.

nowadays when i pull in for gas or anywhere
i have a mob around the car & it seems
i always hear the words i had one like that.

i usually say yeah but you got drunk & tipped
    yours over! :D

YEP then i get to hear in detail how they wrecked theirs
i say i still got mine, never drove her drunk!
    never bent her up! :p

I still have both of my cars from High School.

My first car was the Fastback and I got the 99 Mustang fresh off the lot. Both have had big changes in the past 7-8 years and I've learned a lot (more to go though!). And believe me, I'm never, ever getting rid of them.

My ex ladies dad has a 46 ford conv that he had in highschool sitting in his garage. Its got a newer (60's) V8 in it and it has been sitting in the garage for 30+ years. I'll go by and take some pics and post em. I have been working on him for the last 5 years to get it out. He had a 67 Triumph 650 that had been in a shed since 1974 and about a year ago I went over while he was out of town and took it!!!! I freshened it up and while he was out of town again I put it in the house and when he got home he rode it out. Had'nt been on the thing in 30 years. He never knew it was missing.
Trying with the Ford, but thats a little bigger and in his main garage......

I left my HS car with Dad when I left for the military. He's still got it, so I guess I do too.

I graduated in '84, and I got the car in '82. Its a '58 Impala that needed damn near everything when I first acquired it. It took all my grass cutting/snow shoveling/newspaper delivering money. I loved it immediately.

First on the list was a new Turboglide... This became my first major undercar project...

That trans still works, and the car gets driven on weekends in the summer. Dad assures me it'll be mine again someday. Frankly, I'm not looking forward to that day. It's got the original 348 (now rebuilt and tri-power added), fresh paint, and a continental kit to set off the '59 Caddy taillites. Also, skirts, dummy spots, wide whites, spinner hubcaps, and lots of other doo-dads Dad has added.

The reason I chose the '58 Impala was because Dad had one right after he got out of the Navy in '60, and he & Mom got married in it in '62. It means plenty to them...maybe even more than it does to me right now. But, it was my first car and it's weaseled its way into becoming a treasured family heirloom in only 23 years. Not bad...

I've still got my '80 Camaro, and it's about to come back outta the mothballs and returned to daily driver status. Soon to have a sweet 482 ci BBC and a TH350. I really need to learn how to do bodywork, though. I also have my dad's high school car, or at least one like it. '71 El Camino, right now I am doing a frame-off, and plan to have a nasty alky-injected BBC in it by summertime. THEN, I get to build a rod. I guess I don't consider either of these cars rods, I'd love to say I was going to go finish up my model A, or a clean Tri-five Chevy with a straight -axle. Damn, I want an old school toy. By the way, I graduated in 2000.

Had a '55 Pontiac 2 dr. post in high school, although the one I have now isn't the same one, it looks like the original WOULD have if I'd had the bucks back then.

This still is my RPU. This picture was taken at a car show at Washington High School in Fremont Ca. in 1961. I graduated from there a year later. At the time the picture was taken I had the Olds in the other picture in the car. I had to sell the Olds some time later during a divorce. I know where the engine is now but the guy won't sell it back, has never used it and never will, asshole. I put fenders and a SBC in it later, got drafted, it sat and now I'm on it again. Hope to get it back on the road soon (before I die).

Well, here’s my P/U. My folks gave it to me in ’61 to learn how to work on cars. The picture was taken in ’64, the year I graduated. The other picture, with my grandson, was taken in 2000.

  10. Lol - I have a 80 Z28 with T-tops and a 4 speed running a turbocharged 350! All my autoshop friends were buying them because they were dirt cheap and could easily be built up to be faster than the mustangs. I had a 69' Swinger with a buitl 340!

  11. After all these years I still have both them from high school. My wife Kristy of more than twenty years and my 1976 Corvette Stingray!

Here's more of Jacin's Hemi-Rambler from the 2005 Gasser Reunion at Thompson Raceway Park. A couple of these you haven't even seen yet, Jacin.

    Well,....
I don't have it anymore, in fact I haven't had it for like 36 years. but here is a picture of what was left of it in the early 70's. I had sold it some years before that. they removed the side trim, put all the same size tires on it, took off the nerf bars, and replaced the lakers with Thrush side pipes. but this is what I drove to HS. But I had a cool project in my Mom and Dads garage.

My dad and I built this when I was in high school. I only drove to school about 20 times. I tore it all apart when I was in college to fix a few things I didn't like and I made it too nice. Lately I've been driving the shit out of it since I now have all of the bugs worked out of it. I've considered putting steelies and wide whites on it and losing the tweed interior to make it more traditional, but I've got other projects right now and don't have time. Besides, I really like driving it now, and I don't want to throw out a bunch of stuf that I worked hard on, until I wear it out.

  21. I missed this thread the first time around so I figured I'd bring it back from the dead. Bought my 55 when I was 15 in 1972. Ran around with it in high school with a 327 cu.in. 4 spd Muncie, 57 Pontiac rear w/ 4:88 gears in back. These shots are of the recent move from my old garage to my new one. Its been waiting patiently for its next make over. I want to do a 60's gasser next time and since I don't see Chip Foose and his boys doing an over haul on it, I guess it will have to wait a little longer. Hell, I've had it almost 35 years, I guess a few more years won't make that much difference!

I totaled my High shool car. 62 Impala that started out with a 283 and ended up with a '09. but i have had the same 38 chevy coupe since 1974. It has a few 62 Impala pieces grafted into it so does that count?

Still have mine, no pics but got a rough 30 Model A coupe for my 14 th birthday, did a full frame off restoration on it in high school. I graduated in 69 and i've has the car 41 years, its still in perfect condition has 3300 miles on it and is 100% original. Showed it one time in 1970 Kansas state Model A meet and took third place with it, not bad for a 18-19 year old kid! Whats fun is to go through all the reciets for the car full paint and body work was like $1200, complete interior including new seat springs and rumble seat was like $400. Will post some pics of it , keep it stored at my 89 years old mothers house so next time i'm over i'll take some pictures of it.

I Still have my first car, A 69 torino G/T, I drove it everyday from 1980 till 1992 then I put it away, after repainting it and rebuilding the 351 warmed up. now my oldest son is 14 and wants it really bad, so if he gets a job I will sell it too him. I figure I had to work hard to buy it and I took care of it so maybe he will too. I am the second owner and I am still friends with the old couple that bought it new.

bought my 49 chevy in 1976, (class of 78) drove it for about a year. about the time the battery went dead, I bought a 69 GTO Judge, so the 49 sat on the back burner... til around 1996 when I totally disassembled it and stripped it to metal. in 2000 I mustang II'd it, last summer I completed the chassis (driveshaft, brakes etc) got sidetracked again.. gotta get my sorry ass back on it.on a side note, sold my GTO for $900.00 in 1981 or so. saw it all beat to shit last summer at the Turlock swap with a $12,000.00 price, dude had a real offer of $8,000.00. prolly should have kept that one too.
