Drove a 64 F-85 Oldsmobile in Highschool. Bought it in 1985, graduated in 86, continued driving it until about 88 when the rearend starting making serious noises....still have it, stored inside all these years.

I've had a few more 64's over the years and this is what my current cruiser is:

  5. I bought my 32 3w and my 50 Merc 2d my sophmore year and still have them both. They are both currently under re-construction again. Just goes to show, Hot Rods are never done.

My wife still has her first car, 74 Nova hatchback Spirit of America edition.
Bought it in 1980. Drove it everyday until recently, when we put it on ebay.

30 Ford Victoria, bought it when I was 16 (1966) and still have it. Totally rust free original with all the original wood. This will be the third time I "freshen it up" so to speak.

This is a great thread. Nice to see I'm not alone in keeping a car year after year. Mine is still running but will make a great future project. Of course all bets are off if I die before it's done, my wife, who otherwise has outstanding taste, thinks my HS 71 Mustang is ugly.

Even though this thread is two years old, it's a pretty cool one.

I drug my first car around for years after it no longer ran. When I graduated from college I foolishly bought a duplicate and stripped out the worn but fixable old freind.

I still own about 25% of my first car, which is in boxes in my garage and the engine sits on a shelf. Over the years I have used parts of it in other ones but keep them if I strip it out.

I own many of the cars I have bought over the past 20 years or so still.

The first car was a Fiat 128, which explains my board name.

My high school car was not as nice as the ones that I see on here. I drove a 1980 Volkswagen Scirocco. I got the car for free. I drove it two years until the fuel distributor went out and it was to costly to buy another one. Then I got a 1979 Chevy Caprice which I drove through the rest of high school and my first two years of college.

Ahhh... high school the land of dorks , jocks, and stoners!! drove a '65 t-bird convert primer gray with a olive interior power top didn't work so I used a drill w/ a screw driver bit to put the cover flap up anddown { a bitch when it rained though} still own it sits on stands in the carport at pops house. needed something that was cheaper on gas so summer of senior year bought a '56 bug for $300. my $3.25 hr job money went a little further{lol} still own the bug too, still drive it.

I still have my first car... 71 Pontiac GT-37, 455 bored .30, 4 speed, all the nice goodies.

I learned how to drive in it, how to paint with it, how to (fill in the blank here) with it...

I graduated from High School in '91 and sold my High School car ('78 Dodge Aspen) in '95 after I lost my storage space. I lost a lot of money on the deal and ended up throwing away all of my spare parts. I figured I was done building cars - yeah right. It's been just over 13 years and I've never had a nice older car since then (although I'm still trying.) Selling that car was the biggest damn mistake I've ever made as far as cars are concerned. My advice is don't sell your first one unless you absolutely have to.

  23. Bought this one for a cool $1000.00 back in 74. Graduated in 77 and just held onto it. Kind of a rare car the way it was ordered options and such and a big bonus was it was the first fastback to be sold in my hometown. The build date on the car is Sept 10th 1964 wich makes it one the first fastbacks produced as the production for f-bs started the first week of sept 64. We drive the car regularly. With a 1964 build date does it make it a H.A.M.B. friendly car???>>>>.

It's been garaged for 10 years now, but I still have the '48 Ford I drove in high school. Got a lot of funny looks back in the 80's because it ran a "built" 8BA out of a '49. Everyone tried to talk me into an OHV motor, but I'm glad I stuck with the flattie.

  25. Still got mine!

Dad bought me a 1946 Chevy PU at age 14. He drove it for a year with the chrome baby moons and early mustang buckets, everything else original with the exception of a 250 six. At 15, we backed it into the garage, pulled the drivetrain, installed a '55 265, 3sp, and '55 rear. Dad & I drove it that way for a little while ('till the 265 gave up the ghost). Bought a basketcase '66 Biscayne for the 283-3sp and installed them in the PU. I drove it that way from '79 (graduated in '81) 'till '85, when the engine died. Had one of Dad's friends' sons look at it. When we pulled the cam the lobes looked more like small bearing journals! Installed a 327/350 cam with mixed results. Finally had a friend that had a neighbor that rebuilt the 283 with the previously new cam, .030 over, and Rhodes lifters. Never could get the valves adjusted right. Graduation, new job, etc. took precedence. The truck has followed me on 4 relocations on a trailer, since it does not motivate itself. With kids in their teens now, I can turn my attention back to the first 4-wheeled love of my life.

It'll never leave my posession! If for no other reasons than Dad and I built it together! Fond memories...more stories later!

I dragged this old racer (a '62 Grand Prix) from a coworker's back yard in '89 (during my junior year in H.S.) for $200... the rolling hulk needed a front clip, engine, trans and rearend... I drove it around the block for the first time in my senior year.

The car is now getting the body-off treatment...it will look stock but will have a few behind-the-scenes improvements.

  29. That is cool. What color is it painted in the B&W picture? Are the tires skinny whites on one side and wide whites on the other? Ever thought of going back to that look?

    Thanks,
    Kurt

ps- That looks to be a Falcon or Nova wagon in the background on the left. What city is that?

I've still got my '64 Falcon Sprint HT but its needing some TLC. My dad got the car in the early 80s and it just sat around until I asked him if it could "have it" for my first car. A little here and there and I was cruising in it. Not safely at first but with time I made it more safe for a 16 year old.
