I just came across this video and had to share it . . . This the outlaw drag racing and wheelstand nationals event that is held in Byron, IL every year. INSANE! If any of you have been to BIR in MN for the Show & Go, MSRA SS/FR or Musclecar Shootout, you'll recognize some of the cars here. Watch the whole video . . . worth the time! <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/sDxJVCh5Se4&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/sDxJVCh5Se4&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> I'd love to go some year. Too bad it's the same weekend as the Bull Bash.

Great video. The orange Gremlin is from town here. He's been know to stand it on it's back bumper with all four wheels off the ground.
Greg32 and his cousin run the silver and black Camaro at 1:37 of the video. He says it runs faster with the wheels on the ground.
I've been to it, some of the cars entered are way too nice. Slamming down like that can tweak a lot of parts.
If you do a youtube search you can find lots of carnage at this event in past years. I can't imagine doing that with some of those nice rides. Way too much money wrapped up to let it go for crowd approval. I heard the top prize is $10k, but you'd be hard pressed to fix the damage it takes to win for $10k!
been there, can't stand to watch the carnage. take away the transbrake, ballast and altered body panels...then you have some talent. It just breaks my heart to watch good iron get torn up.
The guy down the road has won it a few times in his Cutl***. I think he was the 1st to roll it or endo it a few years ago. I heard he was building a Corvette to run this year. I don't know if he got it done. His name is Jason Schubert.
Here is the Cutl*** rollover from in this highlight reel from 2005. The video from this year shows the Cutl*** in action, so I have to ***ume the Vette didn't get done. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/zMTAa-wd1Cs&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/zMTAa-wd1Cs&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Yep Bull that would be him. He has had that car since he was 16 I think. It was his first car and then along the way he transformed it to that. Did all the work himself. I remember talking to him that week after the roll over. He asked me if I knew where there were any more Gremlins at? LOL I figure he wanted that shorter back end. Thats probably why he went Corvette.
More pics from this year's event: http://kellyandersen.smugmug.com/Other/44/9878268_J77Dh#672600087_Fssfg And I'm not as impressed with the cars that are purpose built wheelie machines. I'm not as impressed with huge engine set backs and 300lbs of rear ballast as I am by the more "realistic" drag cars out there carrying the tires.
