Finally got my engine mounts in and couldn't resist setting my hilborn in to check for clearances. Is there a rule of thumb for stack to hood clearance? I've got about 4" at the lowest point in the hood, so I'm not worried, just looking for opinions of those with more experience with this set up.

Love the look of the hilborn though, even with a closed hood. Hopefully worth the headache!

It isn't likely to matter. It will work just fine like that or you could cutseveral inches off of them. Obviously not your ideal street set-up but it will work. g

The length of the stacks was determined by the rpm sweet spot you were expecting max output. Lower rpm motors such as the early Olds had rather short stacks, where as a high winding Chevy sb would normally have taller stacks.
Far as hood clearance as long as it isn't up against it you shouldn't have a problem.

Most people want them to stick thru the hood, for the cool factor. Either way they're cool.
