Hilborn timing cover

    Can u make a hilborn finned mech injection timing cover work on a stock small block chevy without injection?

    Yes just use the long (later model) water pump or extensions on your short one. The find the appropriate pulleys.

    I think what 1934 coupe is saying is that a short water pump wont clear the Hilborn front cover due to the covers thickness. A short pump barely clears a stock cover.

    Yes, with the long pump and you may need a thin cover plate over the cam drive. I made a 1/8" thick cover plate and it didn't clear my aftermarket harmonic balancer. I'm making one now out of .040" thick aluminum and I'm drilling and tapping for #8 countersunk screws. The original studs are 1/4" co**** thread and will need to be removed.

    I'll be glad to send you my thick cover plate and countersunk screws if you think you can use it for your application (send me your name and address in a PM). It would probably fit with a stock balancer.
