My friends and I have added yet another project to our stable of silly looking vintage inspired race cars. My friend Shane was complaining about the difficulty climbing in and out of his bantam and wanted a nose high cool looking g***er. He was looking for an Anglia or other small car to start the project when I saw an opportunity to make fun of my friend. I suggested a Hillman Husky would be most fitting since Husky was an accurate description of his physique. After 30 hours behind the wheel driving from southern Ontario to Maine they brought back most of a 1954 Husky. We had concerns about clearing Customs but they just laughed and said whatever you’ll never get this on the road. This car is almost too nice for us to work on. He had made a deal on just a body but it broke in half moving it so they had to buy this instead. I’ve already traded a bottle of rye for the mustang 2 front end that needs to go to make room for a straight axle. Plans are a tube ch***is, tunnel ram SBC, power-glide, and 8-3/4 rear end. Like all our projects this will be on a tight budget based mostly on parts we have on hand or can trade for. I’ll have to take over paint and body again to prevent it being painted with a roller. We work on the car almost every Monday night so look for updates weekly. And here’s the other fine cars this one will be joining at the track. The Husky has a running engine. This engine is part 302 and part 327. Th history is a little questionable but it has aluminum pistons and a lot of matching on the heads. Appear to be fully balanced. Plug wires are on the list to buy, these were all we had that would fit to run her on the test stand. Sounds mean! Should look better with the tunnel ram. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
No progress on the husky this week. The twin engine car had transmission problems last summer and out friend Dan built a shorty powerglide for it. This will let us move the engines back and shorten the whole car by 10” but we’ll also have to redo the firewall, floor, tunnel and all the linkages. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Jim Kramer in Herman, Pa. Found this old Hillman in Pittsburgh,Pa. It's an old altered from the 60's. Condition is as built in the 60's. Injected 392 with a clutch-flite ****** and a 64 olds rear. Jim a big boy, 1st time he got in it he got stuck. Lol had to remove steering wheel to get him out. Ha ha ha Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Another shot of the Hemi Hillman. Boxed funny car frame and a cantilever type steering. To help limit the bump steer Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Not a very good picture. This is when he was stuck. We laughed at him for awhile before we helped get him out. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Not much progress, I was over served and “fell asleep” Woke up to this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Finally a small amount of progress, We pushed the car inside Next will be bracing the body and cutting out floor and front frame. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Up in the air and cutting out floor This car was some kind of hotrod or racecar in a previous life. It had a frame from some other car in the front welded to the floor and the rear subframe. It’s all gone now thanks to the plasma cutter and sawzall. Someone did some hotroding in this garage before my friend bought the house, it came with some serious beams and chainfalls ready to lift. Monday night we cut out the rest of the floor and sub frame. Plasma cutter let us down so it was all sawzall. We highly recommend Milwaukee blades after this. There’s a stack of 2x3 tubing on the floor ready to start laying out frame.view from the engine bay looking back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yesterday we had a big work party, noon till midnight for some of us. All the brackets are cut off the rearend, Rear wheel openings cut out, Frame tacked together, And we had time left to eat pizza and drink whiskey. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Basic frame is well underway and tunnel ram is looking good, Engine needs to move way back and up Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I haven’t made it out to help my pals with the car, but they’ve made some progress without me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Car continues to progress, Ch***is is mostly done, I’m working on body work, Steering is mocked up. I think we’re happy with the stance. Yesterday we started on a firewall out of some aluminum signs someone had given us, then got distracted by alcohol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Aluminum work continues. I’m happy with what we’ve accomplished with A cheap bead roller and a homemade brake. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Lots of work tidying up the floor pans and tunnel and making a panel to fill the dash and mount gauges and switches. funny how every panel takes about the same amount of time regardless of size. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Road trip yesterday to buy some parts off Kijiji. Shortened 9”, a rough rear frame and a torque converter. These parts are for the next project, a 1973 BMW. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
