I has got a new favorite hot-rod. Bobby Hilton shore can build cars. When I was into a roadster and Adurn heads and 36 bones and wire 18" wheels I had one of his orange classic 31 roadster as a favorite. I has seen several of his A-Ford coupes. I has not been into radical chuopped 5W 1932 coupes ( they get easy out of proptions ) but if I got it correct it was 6" front and 5.5" rear and front window is lay back. So how can this feels so right. -Is it the front window lay back or the painted window frame ? I has the same solids wheels and I had it on topics before on rear wheel stand out. I has not seen many pictures of this car but it shore has attitude. I don't know how he did with rear axle CC and what that solid wheels had at back space. Bobby told me the wheels was polished and Dow 7 ( my can't do that as to bad under the paint ) I think I paint my black. -If more pictures of front and rear and inside car, please show them. Would love see this car live to see the roof. I guess it was a customers car.
I sat in that coupe and talked with the owner for quite a while. It is a tight fit, but when building chopped cars you need to make allowances in different places.
I don't know the ’thread’ or owner, just seen some pictures. Was it sofa or bomber seats in it ? I wonder if Hilton did custom the body more than the roof style. Here is another picture from the streets I just found.
Is the above car black or maroon? Here's a maroon 32 with a blown olds by Hilton's. Same car? Hank, you have pictures of a HAMB thread, whose post was it?
I first saw this car when I has the solids pop out from body at rear thread, and someone showed me this car. -Its a wow. -Wonder how he did move the front window back. As I see it one need cut it all lose and tilt it, but it gets the 'look'. Verry few 5W has tilted front windows, but its done to 33/34 more often both 3 and 5W.
Not bomber seats, its a bench seat. Here's a link to some photo's of the interior... https://relicate.com/blogs/automotive-interior-inspiration-gallery/insides-by-mike-1932-ford Nice car, but chop is too severe for my tastes (or that my damaged spine could cope with )
It’s a print errror of a Model A, but see wood inside its just a total awsome car. I’m nocked.. Wonder what brakes Bobby used. My 3” chop will change !
I saw it not long ago and it was still in Bobbys' new shop, I was surprised he didn't drive it to the RoundUp. I prefer his early Model A's, the 'Angry A's' he calls them, they had proper attitude.
....They were trendsetters with a signature look. You could always tell one when you saw it even if you hadn't seen it before. Perfect "A's".
One told me this coupe might was a hair channeled, is that correct ? Is there any body modifications ? The model A's is way cool, but can they beat a 'angry' 5W 32 ? ;- )
Here's a walk around video and interview with Bobby Hilton. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10155637604250544
Yes a very intresting color by Travis Hess. It feels very 40's and stand out from be black. Its also so cool to see the oåen wood construction inside and it seems old and not new wood and give a real classic hot rod toush inside. -I has try to see whay brakes Hilton used, but my guess its repro Lincolns as that would fit the new front axle I beam and the modern 5-speed transmission and a new Winters QC at rear. This parts make sence as engine make power and modern way to do it, still it’s classic. On my own ride, it will be as much Henry or old speed parts as possible. I saw the wheels they used on a photo and they look like mine before paint ( on mid 2000 ) So company polished them must had done a great work. The Dow 7 is absolutly make this car stand out beside the roof and paint and rest of the attitude Hilton made up. -One lift the hat to the guy ! Amazing.
I wonder how one tilt front window correct. I heard old way was tilt but window did leak below. So is they cut up at lover part ? Found one picture but cant say I can se anything but resd this body had a tilted window. -Tested my coupe at 5.5” front..
I know you mentioned some before, so was that a error of the pictures I put in, I guess so. I thought it was for some that did not to press and got it larger ( that’s how I do on pictures ) I need to see how to install a picture larger. Sorry.
...Not an error. Just look below. There's a "full view" button to hit before hitting the "post reply" button to avoid thumbnails.
If one chop it this hard at 6" on a 5W can one get the door windows in ? Read on Larry Rollers 3W chopped 5.5" it was not possible.
I'd never really thought about that . . . but that is a very good thing to ponder on a heavy chop. When my 34 five-winder gets chopped, I will be making sure I have a plan!
