You've seen the car and talked about which master cylinder I should use...but now here I am officially. I'm Hilary, got introduced to the wonders of the HAMB by John (my guy). Even though I have chosen to go against what the majority of you have recommended for upgrading the master cylinder on my 60 Buick, I have found that there's a s**t-load of useful information floating around this place.

The Buick is my first old car and I'm super excited/spastic about getting to work on it. Hopefully I won't drive you all too crazy with the millions of questions that are about to start flowing. [IMG]

There's my intro. Before you ask, I don't know most of you well enough to post my mesurements...

Cool car. Glad to see the Lakes open and functional. Is it the only exhaust, or just cruisin' open?

It's the only exhaust for now. I'm planning to add something a little quiter in the near future so it doesn't sound like a firey monster bursting out of hell when I drive it to work. I do want to be able to uncap the lakes for cruisin'. It sounds pretty mean the way it is and I like it. [IMG]

Skip. We'll probably be out at El Mirage on the 16th. I gotta spend some time on the Willys so we can do wheelies down the lakebed this summer. That Bulletbird is still in my backyard if you come into some cash. I'm gonna swap in the newer 390 and get it running to make it easier to sell...and you know how long it takes me to make progress on things...so you got some time. See ya.

Photoshop'rs...if someone has a minute can you work your magic on that pic...Hilary's first choice on color is replacing the green with a super light pink...we would appreciate it! And for those that missed the earlier post with this pic the roof/decklid is abalone flake over white.

Hi. If you have any ????'s on that 60, ask me. I own one and have done cubic assloads of research on them to figure out what will fit and what won't.

Still recommend power brakes and a dual chamber MC. It's worth it when Betsy Bumpkin blabbin on her cell pulls out in front of you and you're clippin along at 55-60.

Here's a super light pink, and the nose brought down 1 coil. Looks so much better with the snob look gone.

Thanks Fraz! You're right, it does look better with the front a little lower.

What kind of brake set-up do you have in your 60?

The aforementioned booster and MC going to the stock drums. No fancy discs for me, especially with the stock finned drums sitting there up front. When I rebuilt the brakes I did clean the crap outta everything, lubed the adjusters well, and it's all good. Lock all 4 wheels if I deem necessary, which I've done 2 times.

I did "upgrade" the front hubs. I used some out of a 65 Electra (Riviera will work too) to get rid of the ball-type bearings there. They're expensive! Now I have roller bearings and they're maybe 1/3 the price to replace.

Yes Fraz Thanks! Probably when questions come up they will go to your email first. And that thing hanging off the radiator you asked about...I guess it is some kind of shroud like you thought, but it is flat and small...dunno. I'll send another pic of it tonight to satisfy yours and our curiosity.

And as far as the brakes...to save Fraz some typing:

"Anyway, yes, they did come with power brakes. No, you don't want to use the original setup. It bolts up, sure, but you're limited to a single chamber master cylinder, which means if you lose brakes at one wheel, you lose em ALL. And not to mention the rarity of a working booster, plus the fact that they're EXPENSIVE as hell.

    What I did:

Booster and MC off a 69 Chevy caprice with drums all 4 corners. Booster and MC cost about $110 or so from parts store. Do a little grinding, a little drilling, and bolt them up to your existing non-power brake mounting spot. Bend you a couple new lines to take advantage of the new dual MC, hook up a vacuum source, and you're done."

If we flip back to modifying to a dual we just email you for more help. TIA.

    62Buford...that is bitchen...exactly what I was thinking!!
Can you easily switch the colors to a light pink and a medium pink?? That looks sooo good man!
