These fucking things go nowhere, have no real value (everyone who's interested in surfing eBay already does it without a heads-up posted here, and most folks can suss the humor/absurdity in the eBay stuff so don't need the poster's direction), and it soaks up Ryan's 'spensive bandwidth in another high-school circle-jerk.

Knock it off and get back to cracking the books so you can one day become a contributor to the work force.

You talking about the post like....hey check out this abortion? The stretch limo sedans and Buick Skylarks? I laugh at em but they really don't have much validity.
But then again, neither do most of my posts. [IMG]

    amen...

    (i agree)

also now that you get a flashing reminder of unviewed private messages whenever you sign on we don't need "john doe to the courtesy phone" or "billy bob check your pms" either.

I agree. The only exemption I can think of is when important pieces of hitrod or kustom history passes through, -like the Goulart-Old a while a go. Thats the only posts of this type that starts interesting threads as I see it.

Yeah...I agree for the most part...

sometimes we need a funny 'something' to break up the monotony,
but it seems those type of posts ARE the monotony lately...

As for an ebay 'heads up', just PM/email the people you know are
looking for a particular item...not show the whole world...

I agree on the truly 'neat' and historical items though,
those things should be shared, esp. for the pics...

And if I see one more 'new' Von Dutch subject post,
I swear I think the poster should be shot/banned...

    Good point though Av8...

ebay is the stuff of life. If it wasn't for ebay I'd be festering in a pool of my own excrement. How dare you put a moratorium on my very existence?

I had 4 items for sale on the bay this week, one sold for a huge proffit,

    a Thickston 2x1 for a Dodge

and another I took a slight loss on,

a pair of NOS '57 Vette 2x4 air cleaners.

nobody wanted my Motorgaurd filter but,

there's still hope for my other gem..

you want it? you find it [IMG]

that's a long winded way of saying "I totaly agree"

How 'bout an end to all the tattoo posts? If I wanted to read about tattoos, I would have joined a tattoo message board. Next thing you know, people are going to start posting about Rock-a-Billy bands and pompadours... oh wait!

Anyway, I'm out. I gotta go see what the Von Dutch message board is up to.

    Ed

PS- I have nothing against the aforementioned subjects... just the onslaught of off-topic posting.

PPS- Please don't reply 'This thread sucks' to a thread that offends you. That just brings it back up to the front page and pushes the car posts further back. Give it a one star rating and hope the poster gets the point.

The posts that point out good stuff are great. I've always wanted an excuse to build an english wheel but haven't been actively seeking the wheels to do it till I saw a post on one of the boards. After seeing several sets of wheels go I finally won an auction and have my own set. I thank whoever posted a "look at this" type of message. On a side note, the wheels arrived, I dropped one of the boxes on my foot, and now I'm wearing a half-cast for a couple weeks. I hope the english wheel is worth it [IMG]

I have a 30 or 31 roadster, (old late 50s early 60s rod, on a 32 frame, front cycle fenders, etc) I bought few weeks ago, because someone posted "look at this old roadster on E-bay". Didn't buy thru E-bay, (private sale) but I don't check E-bay very often and I would not have this car if someone had not posted a link here.

I think postings such as the one that led me to go look at this old rusty POS car are ok, traditional rods & customs, but there are a lot of "trash" E-bay links here.

  19. One of the other forums I frequent (www.amcforum.net) has a separate "eBay/Auctions" area. Maybe food for thought Ryan (like you don't have enough to do!).

I think maybe if people only post genuine good deals it wouldn't be so bad, but the downside is, you let a whole bunch of other people know about the auction and are just decreasing your odds of winning it.

I enjoy them. Many times I've taken a look at the link and come away with a "Thats cool" and "Damn, wish I had that".

Just a few days ago I got a part I needed thru one of these heads up post.

You always have the option of not reading it if you don't want to.

Fer chrissake, Nads, all I did was suggest a moritorium. If your head's clear about this stuff you're okay. Get over it, get beyond your silly, simple I/me/my needs. [IMG]

    No I don't agree,
    all the time anyway.

as long as it is something hot rod cool,
    or hot rod obscure

I can do without bad lookin customs/HR's, and crap though.

I knew this had to happen, there's been too many e-bay links and " look at this " shit lately. I like to look at e-bay & wish too, but I leave it at that.
    e-bay is full of scams.
can we have hot rod stuff only, on the HAMB.
AV8 you're my kind of guy.

But Mike, if they don't post it here, how will we ever find the pink and blue VW bugs with Rolls grills, Buick wires and 57 chevy fins with the rotating windup key on the back?
Some of us don't have time to search out those classics on our own! [IMG]

What bugs me is that I must have missed the one that lit your fuse. Bet it was a dusey! I feel left out. Kinda like when your team scores and you're on the shitter. [IMG]

You kids get away from that internet thing and go out and play in the junkyard like God intended!
And if you have money left over, that's for HERSHEY, not any Ebay!!

maybe if the ebay ads were stuck in the classifieds it might be better. a good deal on an old car is a helluva lot more on topic than tattoos are.

I now agree that ebay posts should go in the classifieds...

the reason I say this, is because I now remember also scoring
a part due to a fellow Hamber posting a 'look at this' link...

I check out ebay alot, but I don't always have time to search
for EVERYthing I am looking for, or might want...
