HIPERFORMER.COM I've asked before "i think". but i'll try one more time....Has anyone ever used this company. They seem legit, have been around roughly 50 years, build 5000 plus motors a year, and have a 7yr/100k mile (was told by them 70k mile) warranty. Of course this is what I've read from them. I've been given a quote of $2150 give or take $100 dependant on wether i send in my engine or they just use whichever one they have lying around. I CAN'T FIND ANYTHING NEGATIVE!!! What does everyone think? If yes do it, should I send in my Y-block, it's a 292 with ECZ-G heads, maybe they won't send me one with the heads I want, so I shoudl send mine? If no,why not? ALL help and opinions is greatly appreciated. And if anyone has any stories about this company do tell.
I would work with a local machine shop that has a good reputation. If you have a problem, they will be nearby and minor problems will be easily taken care of. Good Luck. Lucky667
Nothing like being able to look your machinist in the eye when planning the build and having him as a reference when you fire it up if a problem should develope. With the reputation you quote everything will probably go OK. It's just that one a hundred (thousand) chance you'll have a problem that makes a local guy nice to have around. Frank
"Yeah, we stand behind all our work." is a great confirmation...but the worst part of all that is once it's in...and it goes bad, that means YOU have to take it back out and YOU have to SEND it back to them...and that's a lot of wasted time...local guys could at least listen to it before you take it back out...and there's no shipping charges with local guys either... They also operate as "S&S Engine Rebuilding Co." http://www.hiperformer.com/contact-us.html http://www.rebuiltautoengines.com/contact_us.html
Go to your local dragstrip and ask the racers who does their machine work. You will find out pretty quickly who does the best work and who to stay away from. I have had teh same machinist for teh last seven years. If he ever retires, I will have to quit building cars... Good luck, -Abone.
Find a good local machinest if you can. If there are any problems, at least they are handy. Also, if they build a lot of race engines, make sure they still understand street engines. Too many people use race engine builders to build their street engine and they don't live. Racers want as much HP as they can get and long life isn't too important to them. Most street engines want reasonable HP plus some life.
