The frame & suspesion was pretty much the same from '18-'23.

Those funny coils are SOFT RIDE add on items to make it ... well .... Ride softer.

Cool add on Part for the Stocker Guys.

    Jimmy,

I got 2 Roadster Bodys & a '23 cowl to replace the Early style.. The '23 is MUCH nicer than the Early ones.

This Thread made me go out & stack some parts to get a General idea of what my Roadster body with the '23 cowl will look like.

The '23 Cowl is a MAJOR improvement over the Early cowl.

Anyone out there have the Mount & Drive for an EISMANN Magneto to the Dodge 4cyl ?

The mount is cast part as of the oil pan. At least two differant lenths of shaft, so two differant locations for mount.

  7. Ok all you dodge brothers roadster owners....These cars have been on the back burner for a year now, its time to start getting back on them.
Those of you that have access to the early cars....up to about 1921, I need some messurements. Both of my cars were cut up, so I need the width at the rocker panels and at the top of the tub right behind the door opening so I can built a jig to get these back into shape.

I love the looks of these bodies... and they are quite a bit wider than a "T" of the same era. This is my roadster, found it on Napa Craigslist here in Northern California. The first pic is how I found it... apparently it was an old hot rod from the area, it came with the chopped up 32 frame and chrome windshield stanchins. It was set up for a flathead and suicide front end when I found it, so rather then re-do the whole concept I just ran with it... left the red laquer the way I found it... went through the frame to make sure it was safe... dropped in a rebuilt merc motor, toploader with Zephyr gears and pulled together as much patina chrome as I could! Just finished it at the begining of May... found out its a lot harder working around someone elses work than it is to build it from scratch, but I'm happy with the results.

that thing is one of the coolest looking roadsters i've seen... nicely done

  11. Mine will be built right along the same lines of this car, though I do want to run the mopar tube axle with the dropped center if I can track one down. The wifes car will still be build as planned, but we have a stroked 318 poly motor in the works for hers, Mine will be getting a 322 nailhead (saved from my 1st "nailhead dodge roadster" i started back in '03 and ended up selling a few years back. Sooooo....as for the messurments, any help would be great, as you can see from the body pictures, these cars are rough and twisted way out of shape. I am pretty sure whoever cut them up used a dull rock to do it.

Heres a couple 1918s built in the Indianapolis area. The Krylon Special ( red seats) was built by us quite a few years ago and has been driven all over the country. Has slant six ,holley headers etc.....great little car.
The other body i owned once and sold to a friend , it ended up at Joker Fab Shop in brownsburg and was built for a customer . Miller nose and a 4.3 l v6 engine. Track roadster style...
These cars are great as they are uni body with no wood.......good metal.....

  13. Pins&Needles, does your roadster have provisions for pontiac taillights?
Also is there remnants of Metallic Green paint?

There's a guy on HWY 97 near Madras that has a bunch of these early DB's in his front yard. Sign says they are there for viewing pleasure, not for sale...but I'd venture to guess he could be a resource not to far from you...

  17. Still looking for measurements....heading back home in about a week and want to have the metal for my jig ordered and delivered before I get there. Again it's the distance across the top of the tub behind the door opening and at the rockers right where the door opening curves to flat at re rocker. Look at my body pics to get a better idea what I need. Thanks for any help.

No its had the chevy lights in it for a long time... (I'm guessing from when it was built in the 50's. I didn't find any green paint... just some yellow in the Jams. I wish it was the Les Callahan roadster... but alas I don't think it is...

Here is a picture of it from back in the early 50s

Sorry it took longer than anticipated

bottom front edge of the door is 34inches inside to inside

bottom front edge of seat pan (6 1/4 inches from the rear door opening) is 36 inside to inside

Top front of door is 43 3/4 outside to outside

top rear of door is 49 inches outside to outside

    ... Hope that helps!

    I utterly love this...

I need me a '23-'26 DB cowl and the back half of a '14-'21 roadster. I want to do something akin to the Isky "T", but with a Dodge flathead six.

Jack Pine, how about a few more pictures. Might be able to give you a year. Should be a body number on the firewall, gives sequential number of roadsters. Engine number is over carb, would be about 50,000 higher then serial number.

Hemi Henry Rapheld built a '17 Dodge 'bucket' in San Jose, CA around '62...392 Chrysler, '39 box.
Body cowl line followed the frame shape, had a 'pinch' that looked custom-made. Natural Hiboy.

Santa Clara police ticketed Henry every time he came to my Grandma's house, (big hot rod hangout) Santa Clara was right next to San Jose; San Jose cops weren't as menial as Santa Clara...
Friendly police patrolman Johnny Millar retired, bought the bucket from Henry in '74, painted it a pale yellow, and finished it with exemplary detail.

I kidded Johnny about it, playing "Cops & Rodders".
