quite a few years ago at daytona beach Vickey Wood Had a photo of what I belive is that car and said it was the one that she set the all time fast time on the beach {flying mile} whih that car. she made the statement that her lighter weight helped her beat flocks time/speed..She was a hoot to talk to.

This one brought me out of longtime lurker status - the meanest looking stock car I've ever seen! Thanx for posting it!

DBAG, I appreciate your comment, but when I started this thread I asked for anything from the 60s up to 1985 or so. Anything before 60 is fine, too. The 50s, 60s, and 70s cars are the ones I remember so well. I like that car, and I hope you also posted it on the Drag Cars in Motion thread. We're mostly talking oval racing here, with some road racing tossed in.

Ol' Harold would come into Heidelburgh, outside of Pittsburgh, if the purse was large enough and kick everyone's but, except for maybe Bob Senneker if he was present.

I believe that is a recent built (in the past few years) street car build by an old time racer. There was a tread running on the HAMB about "street driven race cars" or something similar about a year ago. If you do a search, it should show up. That car was on that tread.

I'm just getting started with a 48 Plymouth that will be a representation of the cars that ran at our local track here back in the mid 60s, that will be street driven. Gene

  20. M59 Speedway, just west of Pontiac MI. Went there several times as a kid in the late 50s/early 60s with Pop:

Here's another Photo of the Day. This one I need a little help on. (Indy - some of the Kentucky boys, whoever...). This is an ARCA car raced at Dayton in the 1969 - 1970 timeframe. If I squint real hard I think some of the writing says Louisville on the front fender. I'm curious as to the driver. Interesting that they used one of the really BIG full bodied Plymouths. That's a lot of extra weight.

    Anyway, enjoy

Just saw the 1hr special on Junior's induction to NASCAR HOF. While he owned Cale's ride, Junior used fill in as jackman if needed or when he felt he could do a better job. He would bring the jack around from the right of the car to the left with one hand, swinging it parallel to the ground; knocked down a few NASCAR techs. When they complained, he said, "Stay outa mah way!" Frances told Junior to stay behind the wall.

Vegas, that's definitely a Louisville car. Rite-Way Equipment was a Louisville-area rental company. Jack Lancaster and (I think) Kenny Baird owned it. The car may be Kenny. If I recall, we didn't see too many examples of that body style in competition. Jack was a damned good sprint car racer.

Boy, Edsel racer, hope you can keep these photos coming ! The picture of Ernie Derr looks to be from the KK opener in '68, if it is i was there, the Fairlane on the inside looks to be Fred Zack's car, been friends if Freddies for more years than i care to count. I always considered him to be one of the best, unfortunately he's in the early stages of alzheimers now. Hope you have more from KK and USAC in general. Thanks. By the way i'm from Wuakesha, just outside the Milwaukee Mile.
