Way to to, monsterflake. I never noticed that, and I'll admit I probably should have when I posted the photos over 40 years later. That would mean the particular part came off the 1962 Baird drove. Hampton was in a Chevrolet in 1962 if my feeble memory is correct.

Another one of those things I was talking about. I know it's safer today, but does anybody else think it was more fun when we built the cars out of junkyards? Templates? We don't need no stinkin' templates!!!"

    Help needed !

Which driver / owner is this one ?

The car appears to be a Cyclone or Torino from Flat Rock, Michigan, so I'm hoping someone from that area can help out in identifying this one. Sponsor: White's Auto Supply.

Photo taken at Kil-Kare, in Xenia, Ohio in 1970 or 1971, at a "special" (non-weekly) race. This race was the only time I ever saw this car. It has the look of an ARCA New Car, but I never saw it compete in that series either.

    Let us know, etc. Thanks

    The Oldtimer

John, You are so right about Andy Hampton being in a Chevrolet in 62.
The car was built by Harvey Fluhr from a burnt out 62 Chev hardtop. He cut the top off to make a drop top.As you remember they were allowed at the Fairgrounds in those early years. We young "Punk" teens were at Fluhrs auto salvage almost everyday when the Red chevy was being built. We thought we were the "King of the hill" because the Fluhrs let use watch !!!! Lol Gosh were those the days !!!! Tom ( Tired Old Man)

In post 3460 by Vegas Old Timer, the third photo, does anyone have any further pictures of the #7 Chevelle sponsored by JEGS? I'd love to see more photos of that.

    Thanks,

Right on, Lawman! I remember that red 62 convertible. And Harvey Fluhr was a cool guy, in addition to being one hell of a mechanic.

Here's the very next picture on the roll.

    Enjoy.

Found another Don Gregory shot from a couple of years later, at Dayton - this time in a Monte Carlo.

Thanks much. I believe I saw Don Gregory come to Heidelberg for the big events; he was an "outsider" along with Bob Senneker, Harold Smith, Joy Fair and Ed (?) Howe. They'd roll in and stomp most of the regulars. Real competetive gang.

Looking for early-'70s (color, hopefully) photos of Late Models that ran at Cayuga Speedway (Nelles Corners, Ontario, Canada). Norm Lelliott, Howie Scannell, Terry Kitchen, Ken Reimer, Harold Brown, Jr. Hanley, etc. Anybody got 'em? I think "Tex" Swiston was the photog there then.

Great stuff, Doc. That's what I'm talking about. Looks like the guy in the 74 is about to have a very bad night. And I love that '63 Chevy.

Steve, I'm not sure who's driving or who owns this #10, but I have these shots from different years of the #10 car with Joy Fair at Toledo and Buck Newland at Daytona. Looks like this car was entered in ARCA competition for several years. It may even be the same team you have Don Violet driving for in some of your other ARCA shots.

I wonder why Joy was driving the #10 at Toledo? Always had #1.

With it being a Pierce Brothers car, numbered 14, my first guess would be Larry Moore (aka USAC's biggest mistake) - but I bet that's wrong.
