Trouble during an early season feature at Hberg in 1969......

Some drivers herer are 89-Paul Fess, 84-Middaugh, 40-TC, 7-Don Gregory, 80-Norm Benning, 26-Gus Delong, 27-Bernie Johnson, 69-Delmar Clark......and also looks like Earl Smith in the Macco Tourch Torino heading down the back straight?

Action at Hberg during the running of the 1969 Marc Times 100 event.............This was the race that Ed Howe came down and set the all time late model TT record at 19.59 (I think?).........and won the race..........

During this mishap I can find 40-Tom Collela, 7-Bob James, 26-Gus Delong, 7-Don Gregory, 32-Delmar Clark, 47-Augie Sandman, 60-Joe Mihalic, 29-Herb Scott, 27-Chet Haynes, 5-Bill Konzos, 14-Gary Haulbt, 25-Jack Chambers, 2-Junior Redding, 80-Norm Benning, 44-Jim Bickerstaff and in the cloud of smoke Ed Howe with the green hornet........

I believe this might have been the first time he ran Hberg and after setting a new track late model record (which stood until the track closed) and winnning the race his legend was sealed amoung Western Pa fans....

 

1969 Pittsburgher 200 at Hberg.......

0-Moose Myers, 84-Bud Middaugh.........next row 40-Tom Collela and outside 4-Harold Smith......
