Morning everyone, thanks for the photos posted lately. I've been too busy to scan any for the past few days but will try to get some more in soon. Keep up the good work.

Indybigjohn, do you know what happened to Terry (can't remember his last name) that worked for Prototype. He helped down at GA International some. What about "Stormy Weathers" who worked for NASCAR All American Challenge series, or Bill Desmond who did PR for All Pro. I've still got some of the programs from the All American 400 at Nashville, I used these to help write the news paper like hand outs for our World Crown 300 races. I wonder what has happened to some of the drivers like Bob Senaker(sp) "Sneaker" as Rob called him. When I get time, I will tell the story about the night they ran us all out of the track at Nashville so they could close the gate, we just went out side the back tunnel and started over.

I saw the "ugliest racecar in the world" at the Snowball Derby and I agree with Bobby Allison. That was also the first place I saw and Heard a set of 180 degree headers on Ed Howe's green chevelle. I have a photo somewhere of Jody Ridley in his Fairlane (probable in '69 or so) passing Bobby Allision in his BIG Dodge Charger that he drove in NASCAR Grand National. Bobby spent most of his day in the pits changing tires, I don't know what made him think he could keep up in that heavy thing.

69 snowball was my first snowball . Went with driver Roy Milligan we finished 5 th. 64 chevelle body 57 frame a old Bob Burcham car we purchased about 7 weeks before. I too was amazed by the 180 degree headers sounded like a 6 cyl. Funny thing I recall was a car driven by some one other than Ed Howe had those headers and their gas pedal stuck. It went off the 1 st //2nd turn and you could hear that thing digging in. Then the sound stopped and you could see one of those tall pine trees just shaking. Tore that car up real bad. I think the contract that Bobby Allison had with Chrysler stated that he had to drive Mopars I will ask Chester Honeycutt{{long time crew man for allisons}} next time I see him.. Keep them comming..

Falcon, I haven't had any contact with Terry or Stormy. Stormy may have been the tech man I managed to slip John Wilson's car past when my son and I helped him at the 1985 All-American 400, as I recounted in Driven to the Past last year. I did see Bill Desmond at Bristol in 2002, when he was still working for what had been All-Pro.

That time I saw Desmond was the night Kenny Wallace won the race and I tried to take my electric cart up the ramp to Victory Lane and rolled it, breaking two ribs. I still maintain it was Herman's fault. If he hadn't won I wouldn't have been trying to get up there.

I had posted pages from a couple of NASCAR Newsletters over on the Linda Vaughn thread as it showed her pre Hurst, when she was Miss Pure Firebird. I had a request to post the one with the Birmingham results over here - Of course I can't find that one - so here's the other until I do. I have a bunch of these (somewhere) if there's any interest I'll post them when I find them.

I lived in the Hampton Va. area in the late 70's and attended Langley Speedway regularly. Butch Lindley would always be there for the bigger Late Model races. Butch was truly a classy guy and always put on a hell of a race.

Falcon, in the top photo, that looks like Dan Spence with the flag. He and I were great pals when ASA and All-Pro were working together.

Here's one from the Modified-Sportsman race at Daytona in 1963. From top to bottom, the drivers are Nelson Stacy, Cale Yarborough, and Bobby Johns.

I thought you would reconize Dan, thats the reason I didn't put any names down to begin with. We also worked together for several races when I was race director at GA INT. He would come over and flag our big races often. I enjoyed working with him and all the officials with ASA, All Pro and Nascar.

Incase others don't know in the photo below the driver is Gary Balough and the fellow with the red Prototype shirt is the late Rob Joyce who was the general manager of Georgia International Speedway. And the Bull is the All Pro Bull who used to skate around the track and generally give folks something to watch. I'm sorry I don't have the ladies names.

The driver in the photo below is Butch Lindley who was NASCAR sportsman champion at one time and was a multi winner in the ALL Pro and similar series. The flagman is, as Indybigjohn said, Dan Spence.

    Here is another Balough photo.
