I don't know, Louis. I'm almost positive that the 61-62 windshields had a slanting A post, while the 90-degree post is from 59 and 60. I believe the 27 car is a 62 with the right windshield. But I could be wrong.

OK, I looked a little closer and here is my opinion, if I'm wrong, thats OK too, I learned something new! The #1 Lutz car is a 59-60, the #67 Dotter car is a stock 63-64, the # 7 and 8 is a 61- 62! I like that windshield on the #1, 63 sheet metal, maybe I'll build a model of that one!

SWEET! By the way, this is reason #2,789 that I'm jealous of my dad. In 1966, my granddad was promoting the races at the Topeka Fairgrounds. Dad was flagging. The pace car was a brand new 1966 Hemi Charger loaned by a local car dealer. Dad gets to drive it - free as a bird - for a full year.

That one says "V8," like mine. That would make it either a 318 or a 361 car.

Did anyone notice in the Eric Johnson (top) photo that the driver to his outside is Bob Senneker in a 57 chevy?
In the sixties Eric, Roy Martinelli, Gene Marmor, Bob Chapman & Whitey Gerken (Chicago Area Racers) and the like used to come west and race at Rockford Speedway and I just loved the "Leg" , "8 Ball" and Ceds Muffler cars.
Does anyone have picks from Rockford in the middle to late sixties?

Now there's a surprise Dale Sr. and Tommy Houston "getting together". They did that quite a lot back in the old LMS series. Along with Tommy Ellis, Jack Ingrham, Lindley and Ottinger.

Yeah, Denny. Funny thing was that I later saw a video shot from the hill in Turn 1, and while Dale Sr. and Tommy were fighting for the lead, Houston suddenly veered into Earnhardt coming off Turn 4 and that started it. At another BGN race later that year, I mentioned this to Tommy and asked if he had broken an axle. Had to love his answer.

    "Naw, I just hit him."

Hey Slim Louis do you have any more pics of SE Wis. Sportsmen? Here's another one of Frank Smith. Frank was a 9 time track champ at Hales Corners Speedway. He could really handle a car. I remember one time, a bunch of guys were down at the race shop and here comes Frank wide open down the alley, around the end of the building, up a slight incline and proceeds to pirouette the car in mid air, landing perfectly in a parking spot next to another car. He gets out and strolls over to where everybody was, like it was no big deal, and we're all standing there with our jaws hanging on the ground!

Thanks Slim Louis. ...with the #13 of Solsrud is the #89 of Tom Klippel. Tom used to announce at the Hales Corners Speedway.

Your welcome, Joe, and you can call me Slim, Louis is my last name! I have more but you will have to figure out the drivers names! Did you know the late Roger Plautz, and Tim Lipski, they were high school buddies of mine that went on to race, I ended up playing rockin' blues bass untill Uncle Sam got me! How about Ron Schmidt? He's my oldest step brother.

Who lettered Sal Tovella's race cars? Thats some lettering that was WAY ahead of its time.
