Yep, yesterday was Steve's birthday, and its' been nine years since he passed. Definately bittersweet. I think he would approve of the full fendered version!

It's a torquey little motor. About all you need is second gear, it will take you from 5mph to 90mph.

  6. A lot of torque from these motors, I love the 322, now have 3500 miles on this build, (my avatar) , just runs so well, won't see you tomorrow, have a fellow coming from Iowa to buy an extra Nailhead I don't need, take care.

Wow...I watched all 4 video clips...twice! It looks wonderful to see the coupe running down the road. I gotta agree with the guy running the camera....1st gear is really high. Those old selecta-shift GM 3 speeds worked ok with their original 4.30 rear end gears but anything higher really stresses the clutch...at least it did in my 3500 LB 57 Pontiac.
With the new exhaust gaskets, I'll bet it'll be a nice car to drive...
    Congrats, Eric! You done good!

Eric, The videos are great and you, your Dad and your other helpers have done a great job! I'm still going to get down there to meet you and your Dad in person. Steve would indeed be very proud!

This morning I got the brake lights going and turn signal switch wired in. About 11:00 I ran the car down to a local show ( I didn't get a pic). Dad brought his 40 up, and it was a nice day.
I'm learning the finer points of old Buick crash boxes, and have had to re-adjust the clutch a couple times as everything finds it's place
Gave a lot of rides today, probably put 40 miles on the car.
Here's a few pic I posted to the overhead photo thread.

Man, time gets away. I can`t believe that it has been nine years.....

When Steve was working with Phillipe Danh at `that` magazine almost 30 years ago, I went to see him, and then would see him at Bakersfield when the `Digest had a stand there. He always greeted me warmly and wanted to know what I was up to.......really glad you have made the effort and got to where you have on this car....:)

In 1958 my "Big Brother" graduated from high school in Texas. That summer he and I took his '39 Ford Coupe to California. He was 18 and I was 13. You never get over that kind of brotherhood. 42 years later my son went to college in Texas. We took his first car from Nevada toTexas. You don't get over that***** either. Build 'em, drive 'em, and thank God for those who do it with you.
I love this car. The stance, the wheels & tires, the fenders, and the "CARma". ;)

Tom, Steve was leaning towards a 53-55 era correct hi-boy look and I'm pretty sure he would have run it with the paint that is on it. We did discuss paint from time to time and thought it would be cool to bring back the factory maroon as well as black. He was also considering a stock mohair interior.

I have always connected more to an early 60s' look. I can see upgrades over the next 2-3 years. Primer, plating, glass, maroon, black/white interior.

I graduated high school in 1966 so I am with you on the mid to early 60s. I just think it is a wonderful what you have done so far to honor your brothers memory Tom

I had plans to go to Des Moines but my dads 40 fuel pump gave out and when he made a decision not to go I decided to hang back and pay attention to some stuff I've neglected the last several months ( like my yard ).
I did run up to Lafayette mn for a Cruise in tonight. I Chased Karl home in his roadster .
The car is working really nice, runs cool (170f) I've had to adjust the clutch a little, and I'm pushing a little oil out the dip stick, and the******* is leaking a little. Normal hot rod stuff.
