I can't wait, my hats off to all involved for making this happen. I remember when Ed Mueller had the Night Train at Solvang when I was just a kid, love that Hudson. You should get the National Auto Museum in Reno to loan the Mel Falconer Westergard 39 Ford for this event.

There is room for 75 Custom Cars in total.

Sondre thank you for your suggestions. A lot of them have been on our wanted list, and some contacts have been made to inquire about entering in the show.

We try to get at least one car from each of the major custom builders since the 1940's. I know we will not succeed in getting them all one car. But we can try to do our best.

RM won't give out purchaser names BUT they will contact the owner for you and let them know someone is interested in talking to them. Guy Z AKA: GZ here on the HAMB, works for them and would be a great contact for you. PM him here but also on Monday I will get his email and send it to you.

this sounds amazing. i can't believe so many influential cars are going to be consolidated into one spot.

  15. This car is currently in Maryland and is not in show condition but is in process of being restored. It is mechanically restored but not finished cosmetically. Great car with some great vintage artwork on the dash.
Saw it a couple of months back.
I will respect the owners privacy, maybe he will see this and respond.

The time-line for selecting the Customs is important, but also the makes of cars too. The Larry Ernst 1951 Chevrolet Custom and other GM makes too, good to see the Herb Ogden 1941 Buick Custom. I would love to do an Eastern Automotive Accessory display, been collecting stuff shown in the catalog. Thanks for all the efforts and looking forward.........

  17. Thanks for your input Bob, but Frank Morawski (Carrillo Roadster) is not shy about letting folks where the car is. After the effort to complete the roadster for Pebble Beach, I'm sure the Merc will take several years to make show worth. He does have it road worthy now and takes it out to local cruze nights in the Maryland area.

I have thought about the car, and I knew it was in Maryland somewhere. I knew it was not in show condition... and personally I think it will be better to show this car at some major events once its completely restored. Then it will have much more impact, than how it looks now.

Another car that we are looking for is the John D'Agostino 1951 Mercury "Midnight Sensation" Built by Rod Powell, among others.
I know the car is now most likely in Florida, and the last thing I heard about it was that it was restored and had new paint.... but the paint was different then it used to be. I have no idea how much differnt it is.. and if it still looks like the Midnight Sensation that made such a huge impact on me, and many others.

So perhaps somebody in Florida knows more about this car.. or perhaps ha some photos and or contact info.
    All info will be helpfull.

    Thanks

As it used to look (Thinnman photo)

I have read your post and all of those others that have followed, and i have a couple of questions

Reading your list of customisers that will be attending??
There seems to be some that are missing, the younger Customisers that started building in the lae 80's and early 90's who's cars sparked a new interest in custom cars. And in the following years there fresh and new customs and others that have been built to honour the styles of the 40's and 50's have inspired a new generation of custom owners and builders
Some have already been recognised and are members of the GNRS Hall of Fame and several others.

You have picked a fantastic selection of traditional early customs, but i can only see one 60's custom so far. I hope you will be including some of the crazy 60's Show Rods and TV and movie customs that inspired thousands of teenagers around the world of that generation who then bought and built model kits of these famous cars. Some of these teenagers went on to be the builders of the next generation of customs and have in time built some other stunning customs that have paid homage to the famous builders of the 40's and 50's

Low Riders should be included because thay have another special place in the evolution of customs, with their stunning paint and outragious interiours. and lets not forget that these cars were possibly the start of the extreme level of detailing every single part of a vehicle, that is now seen in all areas of the automotive sport

Cadzilla was another pivotal custom that took its insperation from traditional customs and then bought it into the future and beyond.

Then there are the customs of the late 80's till now, built and owned by people that had loved customs for decades and have bought us new and unbelieable cars year after year. Some being shown in major cars show in other countries that have sparked interest in these types of cars world wide

This is just my person view.
I look forward to seeing your selection of cars from the 60's to now.

  24. WOW......this is going to be a GREAT SHOW! THANKS to all involved!

Yes I'm going. I actually have my room already. Last year my Delta flight for this weekend in Jan was $185.00 RT non-stop from Detroit. I'll be watching flight costs at this point and will jump on it when it reaches $200 or below. May I suggest you and your wife do the same. I'll try to remember to PM you when it reaches that figure.

Axle is not kiddin' about the infiltration of Texans at this show. Austin, Texas in the house !! Jimmie, Lee, Joyo and I can't wait to get out there and mix it up. We are all honored to be part of this gathering. Its gonna be amazing. Here's a couple a more of the Subias Black Beauty. The custom work was actually started on this car in the 40's before Vince Subias bought it in 1950 and had it finished. It was chopped and the carson top made for it before Subias purchased the car. The previous owner of the car back in the 40's, who also owned the Avalon Theater told Vince Subias he paid $100/inch for the 3 1/2 " chop job. You will see it w/ the Carson top on at the show although it looks stunning w/ it's lid off too. Can't wait til January and see all these customs in one place.

  30. Denise should get her tickets free because she is free advertising for the airlines of her choice.
I will be watching for the best air fares.
