Everytime I go south out of Toppenish Washington on Hwy 97 I see a yard that looks real similar to this one. Lots of old tin, and cool looking rides. Too bad most of this stuff will be not be worth fixing by the time the old feller meets his demise. I've seen way too many old timers with the same attitude.
Don't want to miss lead you, he will sell hole cars & trucks but no parts separately. I doubt anything will leave till spring unless it's easy to get to. He has given me permission to give out his name and number but please be a serious buyer or he will shut off communications. There are several locals who know about Bruce but looks like they like to keep quiet about it and keep it to themselves for whatever reasons. Last time I talked to Bruce he was saying he is getting slower and slower at things and needs to unload, he is the last guy that would call in a crusher but who knows what or how things will unfold if he is gone. One big auction I fore see..............................
wow what a gold mine! Well stay good buds with the guy, maybe someday he'll start letting stuff go. It'll go to friends and family before strangers
I dont quite understand these guys, they collect all those cars,or whatever they like to collect, and act like its all so precious to them, yet its sitting out there in piles like a bunch of junk.Sinking into the mud, rotting. If they really cared that much about it you would think their stuff would be a bit organised,up on blocks and covered a little at least. And I wonder how many of their precious cars have they actually ever restored or build into something? When I see a mess like that I think probably none, because you would be a more organized and fussy person if you actually build cars or restored them.
what a gold mine...... however i imagine most of these will end up getting crushed once Bruce passes. It makes me cringe to think of all those cars rotting away up there, he needs to wake up and share the wealth. He could make alot of money selling off the cars and have the peace of mind knowing most will hit the road again if put in the right hands!
Wow!!!Thanks for the link! Unbelievable that there should still be a place like that somewhere. By the general vintage and looks of them these must´ve sat out there a good while, yet I can´t believe how healthy all that metal looks...I can most certainly see how he might not be so much into parting anything out.
these old farts must be selling something... I've noticed these yards never have 32 or 34 Fords in them.
Wow! You said previously that all the 32s had been taken. In your link to another photo thread, post# 41 shows what looks like a 32 pickup or woodie next to the Dodge (upper left of photo).
Glad you read all the posts, some obviously don't! What I meant was that all '32 '34 roadsters and coupes are gone, lots of trucks from "A" on up! On one occasion he mentioned a Austrailin '32 Ford Roadster that was laying flat (his words) in a storage unit. His storage unit is probably an old bus!
Couldn't be further from the truth, he's just not motivated by money like most assholes and has no tolerance for all the hot air many "potential buyers" spew, not to mention he's had a lot of parts stolen. I'd be reluctant to show just anybody around too. Yes, I have been there many times to build a repoire (Thanks Lon!) and yes I have bought several cars---and it's when and how Bruce wants to sell them. If you are serious about wanting something, put in the effort, go there. Marcy
Thanks Marcy, you have a way with words I don't! Send me a PM and tell me what you pulled out of there, you know I will find out anyway!
I have one of these, A Korean job, It's 30 1/2" wide, can roll it right in the kitchen or basement of a house. I picked it up for about 6 grand, thing is killing me, 500 here a thousand there. These little excavators will drive you nuts.
...maybe if enuf guys want a car/truck out of there; they could pool their resources and buy this guy the mini dozer he needs/wants...just a thot.
He needs something trouble free, on tracks, to move cars/trucks around the yard and he knows exactly what will and will not work. Half his battle is being able to get to his target!
Some sweet old cars there. I'd love to have a couple of those old Model A trucks. Thanks for the post.
So it IS in washington? I spy some cliffs that looks like the columbia or snake. Im going to google earth the entire columbia and the snake and see what i find... Oh and is he the trading type? Ive known a couple old guys that had collections and wouldnt sell. But they would trade every now and then.
Would Bruce have something 33/34 ford with a good original frame under it? I read that all the 33/34 coupes are gone, are there any partial bodies remaining? I have a 5 window that was rolled that I am trying to bring back to life. I am less than a days drive away. Thanks
I understand it just fine because It was explained to me by a old guy who has a yard very similar to this....Same deal...Guy won't sell nothing!!....He loves his salvage yard for what it is, A yard full of cars he grew up with, He has kept everyone of them all these years because he loves having a yard full of them....It keeps him young.....If he sold the cars out of there. Then the feeling he has when he is there would be gone.....Bottom line is money prolly doesn't mean much to this man, But he loves his junk!..or treasure, however you see it.
