Boys, boys, please... There's plenty of my tired ass to go around...
I'll do my best to perform a ride evaluation in every hot rod I come across in route to MoKan. And I hereby vow to return the favor with a thrill ride in my heap, next time you're in the neighborhood.

Did I mention that I'll be doing an interview with Mr. Bones on the way to Omaha? I'm hoping this'll finally get me into TRJ - or snare me a Pulitzer (same thing)...

Scotty, just saw this thread.... If, for some reason, riding with BobK doesn't work out, you are also welcome to ride back to Omaha with me. My dad, and possibly Megan, will be along for the ride, also. I'll drop one, or both, of them off in Salt Lake City, or, ideally, they'd ride the whole way back to Omaha
We'll probably be leaving on Tuesday.

....just another offer out there for ya. See ya in August!

A very wise man once said "If you remember the 60's, you weren't there"...so don't worry.

    I'll take it!
Actually, tonight we test drove VW Habit's car (guess what it is), before blasting off for the weekend on an epic road jangle - the story of which will be included
in the book mentioned at the begining of this thread. Should be an absolute riot! The test drive was anyway...

    UPDATE!!!
At this point, it looks like I'll be opening for a (top secret) band at Joplin on Saturday night. Cool.
After the HAMB DRags, I'll be back in Omaha, rehearsing with my old band for a few reunion concerts (we haven't played together or even SEEN each other in over 13 years). The concerts will take place over the Labor Day weekend, then I have to hightail it for the west coast and get back to work. So far, I have no plan to get home. A friend suggested that if I can't find a ride, I hop a freight train and ride it west - would make a great final chapter for the story. I agree, but would prefer to make better time and do it in something a little more hot roddy. Besides, I don't even know if you can still get into a train these days - have they finally figured out they should lock the doors?
Anyway, my hope is that it wouldn't hurt to try the HAMB again and see if anyone's going my way. So here it is... Thanks in advance for your time,
    Scotty

Hey, thanks Erik! This guy, ladies and gentlemen, is a total stud for driving me to Bonneville! I just hope I don't end up tearing up too many expensive parts, while crewing on his racer there. Don't worry Erik, I probably won't do much damage - and if I do, you''ll have a great story to tell about it, so in the end, it's pretty much a wash...

Does this mean we should look for you at MoKan? Or are you volunteering to drive me back to Oregon? Thanks man! You won't regret this! It's a beautiful drive, plus you can sleep in my shop for free (one night only), before heading back home the next day. You can't beat a deal like that! Thanks again, Trent! Oh man, this is gonna be great - just like the "Hangover" movie, only more intense (I have a few "surprises" in store for you)...

Thanks to all who wrote in, but we have a winner: Lucky "T-Bag" from Black Hill, South Carolina!

House: Do your breathing excercises, man. Deep breath - hold it - let it out slowly... repeat... There ya go... Now take a couple Ritalins... There - better now? Good...
Looking forward to catching up with you on the salt. I remember the last time we met there - almost rolled a rental car! That was a fun day...
Bring your burrito and your tent - we'll have some laughs, my friend... you'll be driving the sedan, right?

Well, it doesn't look like I'm meant to hitch a ride home, eh? Guess I'm supposed to find an alternate way back. I like the freight train idea, but I'll be carrying a guitar, suitcase and camera gear, which could be a bit cumbersome while chasing trains. I'm open to other ideas... Thanks to T-Man, Nexxussian and Kiwi Tinbender for keeping this thread up. Maybe someone will post a brilliant idea for my triumphant return... Again, I need a ride from Omaha to the west coast, the second week of September. I feel greedy for asking, considering the HAMBers that are getting me out there already - thanks to you all! Just throwing this out there...
