Been working on the car, and the truck, and....

No, pop's and I haven't been stuck anywhere desolate for a while (lest you count the time in Ely Nevada ;)).

Not too many 'expensive' parts on the car, we've done our level best to make use of what came with it (unless it was completely shot, some was, some wasn't).

Regardless, most would be fairly hard to 'break'.

You mean there isn't a roving band of minstrels headed west from Mokan that could use a lead (hell at this point even a backup)?

Hey Erik - How 'bout posting a shot of the Berkely (and the engine!) here, so people can see what we're dealing with? I could use the inspiration about now.............................

Okay, first is Pops in his 'new' toy.

The oddest feature of the engine (4 cyls, 8 exh ports).

For those interested that's a Peugeot/Citroen XU10J4 bottom end with a XU9J4 top end screwed to it (or at least that's what the research says).

It's got zoomies and a Hilborn setup, but I don't have current pics of those (nothing with them having been cleaned or the new stuff screwed to the hilborn :().

I was discounting intentional damage (yes, we might leave a saboteur tied to an anthill somewhere :p).

Thanks Erik! Oh man, I'm droolin' again - this car makes me feel funny...
Anyway, now you guys get the picture: These are the guys I'll be with on the first leg of the trip - total funsters! Then Bob and his inkster custom, then Rocky's hokey ass 4X4 '46 Chevy PU. I'm stoked. And spoiled - after hanging with this iron, no wonder I can't get too excited about riding the rails back... unless I can find a train with multiple engines, a wicked chop and trick paint? Hmmm........
Anyone around the Omaha area need any manual labor or wrenching done? Maybe I can earn enough money to actually buy a train ticket?

Oh, I don't even have to TRY to create carnage - it's a gift that just comes naturally to me!

Don't worry, man - I fix what I break. Wait'll you get a load of my fixes - you'll wish it was still broken!

So you'll be "test driving" a customer car on the salt? Ah, the tradition lives on...
Or maybe you're riding with P-Dub in his deuce?
Wanna come out to the HAMB Drags with me and see what it'll do?
    This could be really fun.....

Dang, seems like the same as yesterday.:(

I hear Greyhound has a 50% off sale going on, not the idea, but likely safer than thumbing it (the way some people drive these days ).

You might be on to something there, Erik. Was hoping for something more romantic, but I may have gotten too greedy - I'll be stylin' all the way out there, maybe that's enough?
Time to put this thread out of its misery...
Thanks again to everyone who posted - the HAMB is amazing!

    Bummer.

For Clarity's sake, I was speaking of the people's diving that you would be thumbing to, not anyone you already have a ride with.

As it turns out, both Rocky and I might need a ride back to Omaha, after the drags. We'll be debuting the new ultra-mega-secret Gosson Bros Racing entry at MoKan and fully expect some wealthy (and lucky) collector to step up with massive dollars, leaving us rich but stranded (it happens every time we run there).
Anybody wanna haul a couple big spenders back to the Promised Land? We'll be filthy rich and ready to party like it's 1999...

  16. Just got off the phone with the Rockinator and he clued me in on that ride...............man, you sure a Pro-Mod will make it from Omaha to Mokan w/o overheating?!@ Good luck guys. :)

Anyone headed west after MoKan? See us at Joplin - we'll be sitting around at poolside, lighting cigars with $100 bills and tossing TVs into the pool - can't miss us...

Wow. Thanks for the offer, but I'm already uncomfortable enough, just asking for a ride.
I'm confident that it'll all work out however it's meant to, as long as I don't get greedy.

In other news, I'm working with a graphic designer friend on laying out the book. We're just barely getting started on the first two stories, but I can tell you, it's going to be a pretty fun read. Some other friends are pitching in with their special skills to make this a very cool package - can't give any details yet, but these are people you've come to expect cool things from and they won't disappoint with this effort!
Meanwhile, I've been playing some local gigs to get in shape for the HAMB Drags.
I'm stoked! Can't wait to play this music to the audience it was written for!

Thanks again to everyone who has pitched in here. Viva la HAMB!

  21. I pop in the Speed and Power video every once and a while just to catch Ryans "exit" from his drive and your song............well, and the freaky nude painting on Toms wall.

  22. These are the friendliest style words I could find.

  23. Or, you into Zep?
Going to California with an aching in my heart,
Someone told me theres a girl out there with love in her eyes and flowers in her hair.........

    Or the hot rod version.....
Going to California with an aching in my accelerator foot,
Someone told me theres a girl out there with tools and a garage and a Hemi......

Doc: I said I wouldn't cry - but that's so beautiful... especially the part about the tools and the garage and the Hemi... sniff... sniff... uh oh - here come the waterworks again...

T-bucket: I love that footage of Ryan terrorizing the neighbors in the early morning mist! It's truely a miracle that he didn't take out a dozen parked cars on that narrow street...
And thanks for mentioning the song. "Roll" is the song that started all of this insanity, video'd during a guerilla performance at a crusty little burger joint (the "Dairy Freeze"?) in Somewhere, Missourri. What a great day that was.....

The painting on By God Tom's wall always makes me feel funny, you know, "down there"...

Okay. Hey Tom, Trent says Howdy!

    You owe me, man...

So, T-bag, will you be at MoKan, THENer??? If so, what will you be driving and how quick will it go?

Oh man, sorry to hear that. Won't be the same without you there. I need you or Tuck to keep me a little edgy... And who the hell's gonna cook the pork?! Holy crap! We're all gonna starve to death! Run for your lives! It's every HAMBer for themselves!!!
    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrggggggggghhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!.............

Good Lord man, are you mad? I can't eat anything those guys cook - I haven't done a proper background check on any of those guys! And there's no time to do it - with the new administration in place, I've barely begun setting up the bribes and blackmails required for my purposes. It'll be several more weeks before I even have access to FBI/CIA files, let alone the good stuff...
Now I'm forced to bring my personal chef, Dr. Lockjaw along and make accomodations for him. His "special needs" look like a page from the Rolling Stones contract rider. You've really thrown me a curve here, T-bolt. I won't forget this. You will pay.........
