I guess it's time to interduce myself. My name is Jim mansfield, I'm 62 years old, and a retired factory rat, General Motors. Why 'hockeyman', because I lived in Michigan for 60 years and played hockey most of my life. I now live in Geneva Alabama, there is no hockey in Alabama, they know not what it is. I used to dabble in circle track racing( years ago). The wife says no to that. So, the next choice is a street rod. I can turn a wrench, do some welding, and use a torch, also with age I now have some patience. My first car was a 49 ford. I recently picked up a 51-2door (close), and I'm going to need some help. A friend of mine up in MI told me about this web site, so here I am. I have no illusions, I know this will be a lot of work.....and money, but I'm not a couch potato, so lets go.

  4. Welcome, from another hockey nut and just plain crazy about cars.

  5. Jim,

Welcome to the party ! Bring us all that wisdom of your years in the industry. Also have a '51 Shoebox, mine is a Club Coupe, and just getting ready to tear into it.

Where at in Michigan ? I grew up in Goodrich,(South-East end of Flint) and my Dad was a metal pattern maker for Buick for 40 years and my brother for 30. Hell, most of my family worked for GM in one way or another.

A true "Hockeyman" is a Red Wings fan so I'm gonna take that on faith....It's tough sometimes walking among all the Avalanche fans out here in Colorado but, a noble task for righteous man wearing the sacred Red.

Actually Colorado is great and I love it here, and fairing better than the motor city these days to say the least.

    Welcome aboard, Johnnie.
