Hello Does anyone have a diagram showing the location of the hoist pads on a 1963 convertible. I'm in the process of moving and my manuals are in storage until the end of Dec. I have an access to a lift and want to make sure I lift the unibody properly. If my memory is correct lift pads go at the 4 corners of the unibody. Thank you CN
Just came across this today, wow, 8 days and no reply. Probably should have put this in the general HAMB thread, but anyways, here is how I hoist my xtra large unibody convertible. The one in my avitar, 4000+ pounds and 20 ft long. Lifting by the wheels is the best, if not that then inside the wheelbase as close to the rear axle and front cross member as possible. Once when I was rebuilding the upper and lower control arms I had the car supported just ahead of the control arms with my jack stands and also under the rear axle, I noticed a distinct door alignment making it difficult to open the doors normally. If I place my jack stands under the rear control arm pivot and the rear axle everything is as normal. I suggest you attempt a Google search if you need specific lacking spots, but in general, like if you have to let a garage lift your car, like the muffler shop, stick with the "as close to the wheelbase" method for a safe way to hoist your car. Additionally, if you click on my avitar and check out the posts I have started, I made one a few years ago about what portable jack to carry in the trunk with a lowered car. I showed the jack points I use when using a scissors lift on the side of the road. Good luck and be safe.
Unibody..... rear: front leaf spring mount front: just ahead of the firewall on the "frame" I lifted mine from the top using my engine crane using the door hinge bolts and rear shock holes. This will become a radical Kustom after I finish my 47 ford P/U.
