The chips look nice and long, like the (cast?) axle maybe is a fairly ductile steel.
    https://www.dura-bar.com/advantages/material-advantages/alternative-to-steel
    That's a good thing.

I'd spend some time deburring, blending and smoothing the hole edges.
Going over a one wheel bump the axle will be twisting a bit, and the stresses at some spots around those hole are probably quite a bit higher than in the original I-beam.

I usually break out the spot-check/dye penetrant spray cans on hard working parts.
A can of 2nd tier penetrant and a can of developer ought to be less than 25 bux. A few cans of chlorinated brake clean will do the cleaning prep as well as the official cleaners that often are over 10 bux/can,

A crack rarely gets better in service, and sometimes grows pretty quick.
Severe porosity in a casting can indicate bigger problems below the surface, or even start trouble on its own.

Here's one we are trying to find some history on. 31 body on a 32 frame, ran a flathead and was drag raced
in the central valley of California. Anyone recognize it???? It's got holes..... Image 9-30-22 at 2.10 PM.jpg
