HOLES THREAD...drilled axles,backing plates,anything.lets see'em

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by a.y1320, Mar 21, 2009.

  1. The axle was drilled at school by students in the machine shop. Also their first. I drilled the shock mounts to match the motor mounts

True. And I'd add, "It's a fine line between what's actually (mechanically) effective, and what is just aesthetics"

Once upon a time in hot rodding, form followed function....

....but by all means, follow your own muse(s)...

Didn't have a hole saw so the slots in my frame were chain drilled and filed by hand.Fuck me ,it took ages!Other shot is my trans cross member.

Know what you're saying but,I would have had to wait a couple of days for them and was too impatient!Thing is,if I'd waited the job would probably have been done quicker!
    And thanks for the compliment!
    Cheers,Mark.

I found this in a story on Yahoo today. I know it's not a hot rod part but if you ask me, it's pure hot rod thinking.

Very nice, but it rather high-lights the difference between careful craftsmanship and attention to detail... and engineering.
Some of those are a fatal accident hanging in mid-air.
    Can you tell which?

I just finished the bell crank mechanism for my choke assembly, is behind and under the glovebox, the other lever isn't added yet,but i figured i would drill it and make it look interesting. still have to blast off the dykem blue, runs on a ball bearing, and the entire thing is aluminum, if someone looks up under my glovebox it's visible,so i wanted it to look decent. :)

Here's a door off my Firebird race car. It can do with some more holes in the inner panel, but you can see that the glass runners and supports have been swiss cheesed, as have the seat runners, door hinges, and hood hinges. Even the door locks were sawed in half so only the bit visible outside remains. Must have saved an ounce and a bit.[IMG]
