I know this isn't as old as most of the hot rods, but the fact is that I can't seem to find message boards with the knowledge that many here have. Having stated that, I could use some opinions on this setup in regards to the mechanical linkages for the TV cable. The transmission is a 700r4. It HAD a Varajet 2se carburetor and the bracket for the throttle cable and the TV cable was attached to the passenger side valve cover. Now with the Holley, it does not have the neccesary mounting points on the throttle lever for the throttle and tv cables. There are aftermarket "geometry correctors" that can be bought, BUT, I've found that one of them, Holley p/n 20-121, is the closest that you can get, but, based on the info I have found for 700r4 geometry documents online, even those measurement are not quite correct based on the stock setup using the 2se and stock valve covers. I attempted to make my own geometry corrector based on some drawings I found and had a problem getting the transmission to shift properly. I then decided after multiple tries at everything without success, to build the geometry bracket based on the WOT and closed throttle measurements using the old stock setup, which, did not correlate with any documents I found describing how to build your own brackets. At the moment, it seems to be shifting better than it was, but I am now thinking that I am having some tranny issues that were covered up by the pretty terribly running stock set up. Any comments or advice would be greatly appreciated. Old set up: With Holley/Edelbrock: A close up of the throttle cable and TV cable setup.
