I have a Holley remanufactured 4010 600 cfm carb on my 350 Chevy. It has given me nothing but grief. One day it works fine, the next it won't idle at all. Suspecting I somehow got some shit inside the carb, I took the top cover off to have a look. I didn't find any dirt but I did notice a small pin hole in the bottom of the primary bowl just above the accelerator pump. If I crank the throttle, what little gas that was still in the carb shot up through this pin hole (and a little from the venturis). If I put my finger over the hole, I got a good stream out the venturis. My newbie question is: Should this pinhole be there? Here's a photo. The dental pic is pointing to it: It's such a small pinhole I can't see it being one that is supposed to be there. The smallest piece of crud would certainly plug it. Thanks Todd
I would say no. I used to have one of those carbs.Don't recall any holes in the floor of the bowl.Doesn't look like it would be in a place that would be a metered hole.
