okey, so i thought id get some suggestions and ideas...Ive got a holley 4160 600cfm, .54 jets in primary secondary is vac...sitting on a 292 y block...heres the problem, there is little to no heat coming off the exhaust on the drivers side of the engine...Ive got spark to all 5,6,7,8 cylinders, vaulves lashes are set at .19...the engine starts, idles however it doesn't appear to be getting fuel to left side of engine...only under load will will the exhaust heat up. but not like the right side which is very hot...i pulled valve cover valves are not sticking...my thoughts are somethings up with the carb...which ive taken apart, blown out, cleaned and appears to be fine...i would say my intake might have an obstruction, but all 4 are cold to luke warm any suggestions, before i go get another carb??
Not hot at all? Have you used a laser temp sender on that side? What does the water temp gauge read and how long have you been running it to get the p*** side hot? At 180-210, both headers should take your skin off! (don't try this method)
alsofyi. I'd recommend installing a filter on the fuel line to the carb asap. But still nothing to do with your issue.
your pic shows no water in the engine, are you running coolant thru it now? Also your heater hose is installed incorrectly. Again doesn't solve your issue but doesn't help.
Nice looking engine. Have you done a compression test? If your valve adjustment is off somehow, you may be hanging those valves open and bleeding off your compression.
Look at the intake, how the ports are routed...each side of the carb goes to both sides of the engine, eh?
Ysguy Yes I've got hoses to engine now, also I've set up the heater hose that way cause the port on the correct side(p***enger by oil tube) was frozen and could remove plug someone put in there long before me and yes I can touch the headers and there cool when engine is running at idle, p***enger is hot hot!!! No no compression test. I did set valve lashes at .19 cold. Last night I put another carb on and pipes heated a bit but not as hot as p***enger. Cylinder seven is warm but not hot enough to cook an egg on???im stumped. Is the old intake maybe blocked somehow to that side? I pressure washed it good before putting it on. Here is a pic of the p***enger side, also if your wondering why I got a orange hose on the filler tube it's cause the blow by shoots oil onto my firewall. Yeah yeah, the engine is tired. But it's all I got till my 50 sedan is finished. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Okay some updates. I was tuning engine and came across three cylinders 5,6,7 that have vac leaks at the manifold gasket. Somehow the gasket is bad(being new out of the box from summit.) so I found a major issue. I'll put new gaskets on this weekend. Hopefully it will solve the card and firing issues Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
