I’m trying to run a Holley “mighty mite” electric fuel pump with a Holley 1-4psi fuel pressure regulator set at 1psi (according to a gauge on the fuel log). The rear most carb of the 3 is flooding and weeping fuel thru the upper gasket. Float is set at 1 9/32” and the float is not damaged, and the new, needle and seat are clean and working when tested on the bench. Am I missing something? Any help would be appreciated. thanks, mike Mac
How much is the engine pitched front to back? If it's severe enough, the float may still be too high. Might just need a float adjustment.
That’s a great thought, the engine does have more tilt than I intended. I will try lowering the float. Thanks
I'm fighting the same thing but the flooding is just on a steep driveway. I plan on lowering the floats a little more, they were at 1 9/32" and I just reset to 1 11/32" the other day this made it better. How low can you go with the floats?
Agreed – would keep playing with the float first. Watch for running fuel line near a heat source. Some have had luck with Daytona float valves. Some swear by spacers between manifold and carb to reduce heat transfer. Also, many old carbs have been warped by over tightening - may need to hone the mating surfaces to ensure good contact - you can often overcome this in the short term with a thick gasket for testing. Pictures help. @Mike Mac – I’m in Raleigh if you are local and want another set of eyes on it. Good luck!
Just a thought but while messing with my 94's I found one carb that the 'discharge bridge' was not getting clamped down by that strap and two screws. I guess this could cause some flooding even with correct float adjustment? Looks to me as the fuel could leak out under the "bridge" instead of having to travel up to the discharge area. To fix it I just flipped the strap over and reinstalled, guess it has just enough bow to it that it then applied clamping force. Just a thought.
Thanks for the input and advice guys. @Chilly_Dog , I appreciate the offer. I’m in Mocksville if you’re ever in the area, let me know. Where can I get the Daytona float valves?
