    Hi,

i found a original holley 650 2 barrel carburettor. Some people have told me they are hard to find? (Australia) can anyone give me some information? I cant find anything. Are there any rare carburettors i though they made heaps of most models.
Any information would be good. Thanks

I think they'd be **** on the street.

Every 302 Windsor I ever bought had a 350 2 barrel on it. Never ran them.

I realise that. That's why I posted links to them in my first response.

I was merely indicating how common the 350 size is as opposed to the 650. But I'll stay out now.

I recall talk of using large 2bbl carburetors in either circle track, dirt track? Something like that.
Internet chatter, so has to be true;)

I ran Holley single 4412 2 bbl. carbs at some dirt tracks in central CA in the 60's. Bought them brand new for $27.00 and milled the air horns off of them. Worked really well on 390 Fords.

How much flow were they rated at? Like the one the OP posted or different?

The 500 & 600 cfm Holley two barrels were mostly used in two barrel restricted circle track cl***es. The early ones had short velocity stacks like the early Dominators. Not exactly rare and not sure what the use demand would be beyond racing.

I actually ran one on a 65 Galaxie family grocery getter while I was re-building my 4 bbl. It was pretty streetable and didn't seem to use much more gas than the 4 bbl did.

Holley 4412 500 CFM 2 bbl. Not much difference exterior wise.

A true 650cfm 2-barrel would suffer to meter fuel at low RPM.

This is exact why 4-barrel carburetors exist. Those have equal, or smaller primaries to meter fuel at lower RPM, bringing in the rest at higher RPM, only.

It has annular discharge venturi's, no actual boosters but a big ***ed accelerator pump to make up the difference. They were a race only deal.

I'm really not that familiar with these Holley 2bbl carbs. But if Holley sold a model of these primarily for circle track racing, did they all come equipped with a manual choke like the ones pictured above?

I’ve got 3 of the Brazwell’s which bored out the stock Venturi’s and boosters then inserted aluminum annular discharge Venturi’s. I believe Holley sued them with a stop and desist order. They were said to be more cfm than the Holley. The choke towers were also removed. They have been used a Bonneville on both my GMC 6 and the flathead powering Jimmy Stevens street roadster. Be warned, the OP will jump on your *** if you mention anything other than a 650!
