I just put the Holley Weber on my 53 3100 w/ 235. Happy with the new power. And hopefully better mileage. It seems a lot more cold blooded than the hold Rochester. I run a Mallory dizzy w/o vacuum advance . And my stock intake has no heat from the Fenton headers. I'm thinking of putting heat to the intake fromthe radiator. Or maybe exhaust.Thoughts? Here' s afoto of the set up.
I wouldn't run a cold intake on the street on a Chevy six---every time I've seen it done, the engine suffered for it. I'm sure it gets cold enough to cause problems where you are.
those carbs must have heat. ive seen the blades ice over on an 80 degree day. use exhaust heat if possible, water heat works ok but it takes a quite while to warm up and even then its marginal at best. once you get the carb heat right you may need to do some jetting but you will be happy with the results. also 3psi max fuel pressure or it will drive you nuts. whitey.
I'll get the heat to it then. Langdon's sells the plate for the intake, some fittings for the fentons, bend some tubing and it should work. The water system might be easier but would take awhile to warm up. I still have the original mech. fuel pump. Seems to be enough pressure but I'll check the psi.
Make your own plate, it's just 3/8" steel with six holes, 4 to affix it to the bottom of the intake, two threaded holes for the exhaust heat. I've been running this set-up for ten years daily driver only vehicle.
