Hi all, The Citroen "Duality Sled" is mine, I did'nt even know it was on here. Ive been blown away by the reaction, I know the underpinnings are not the norm but where I live you rarely see a Kustom on the road. Yeah there are Kustoms here and Ive seen them at shows but I wanted a car I could use every day and while I was at it, spread the Kool word. I built it on my front drive in the open and it rains here all the time, if it were steel it would have rusted away before I could have got it done. Ive never built a car before because of all the usual reasons, no money, no time, nowhere to build it, no parts and I came to the conclusion that if I waited for all these things to come together it would never happen, so I just did it, what I didn't have, I made. It took 18 months. Im gonna post some build up pics soon but at the moment Im having some technical problems. Thanks again for all the comments, even the bad ones, if everyone liked it what a dull place the world would be. Cheers Paul
"....if everyone liked it what a dull place this would be." Amen brother.Outstanding skills you have! Welcome to the H.A.M.B.,Paul!
You are cool, Paul. Your skills, energy, and vision are amazing. I still don't care for the car, but that isn't a knock on you..we all have differences in aesthetic appreciation, and on a positive note, I'm probably the only Yank on here who pronounces your home town correctly.
I totally love this including the teeth and would proudly roll anywhere in it!! My hats off to the builder!!!! GREAT JOB PAUL!!!! I would gladly enjoy cruisin' all over in this ride, Dare to be Different.
Great build Paul. As I said in an earlier post "I like this guy". Welcome to the HAMB, and don't take the negative comments too seriously, no matter where you go, there will always be those who just don't get it. What you built, and where you built it shows that you have more desire, drive and talent than most here, including me.
Welcome aboard Paul, regardless of opinion you have built something trully inspirational there and I can't wait to see it out and about this summer. If you see a fat Rocker in a wheel chair at a show come say Hi ! Paul
I would drive it to the local Shucks. When the kid asks me what the broken part came out of I would smile, point, and say "that".
fucking rad this guys got more talent than most of the haters on here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Some guys have all talent. Totaly love this car. Why do what every one else do,thats why Barris and the guys in the 50`s got famous?
two words come to mind... from Unreal Tournament.... WICKED SICK!!! dont mess with this guy at 50/50 raffles.. getting his money's worth in "length of car" deals... they'd have to just give him the roll, and the pot!
Hate to tell you this, but a Chitcan dont have a chassis, its a monocoque. So no rebody with Yank tin,its coachbuilt.
Certainly unique! I like it ! Although , we may need to change the line about customs are for getting girls , hot rods are for scaring them!
over there they like to do things like that, so you may see this guy driving down the street with his cape flying out the window, cool car though.
I like it, looks better in white than black. Like many this side of the pond, I've not got US tin, so I used what was at hand. Gerry
In the side pic's the front looks like the rear of a car. Not real big on the fender skirts on the front. The inside looks awesome from what I can see. The flat windshield look's odd too with all the curves on the car. Not the uglyiest car I'V seen on here by a long shot. I bet it's fun to drive.
Yep Big Yella Taxi, Koppak, Me and a few others checked it out today. It ain't Trad but it certainly is RAD, When you see what some people gotta work with, you can only praise the lowered they manage to build anything. Kudos to Paul for all his efforts to create "The Dualatron". Peace 8BB
Shit, that car is awesome, really!!! Anyone familiar with the larger Citroens, especially, knows the amount of hydraulics they have in everything from steering, suspension, brakes, everything! I'm surprised the damn stereo isn't! Anyway, as a previous poster from GB pointed out, they don't exactly have a buttload of '57 Lincolns in scrap yards over there to customize! There was a LOT of time and work put in that car. And, to me anyway, it looks like it would be a blast to drive and own! I just showed my sons pics of the car. The Batmobile and a '59 Chevy immediately came to mind with both of them. My younger son called the grille "hillbilly teeth", which I found funny. I actually like the grille! I'd either gold-plate one of them, or remove one completely, for a little added effect.
Change a Citroen BX to a batmobile is good work and it looks much better than the original the ide of a change one of the teeth to gold seems cool /Stefan
It's a little short for me too. But I can see the reasoning for it. It really does exaggerate that long tail and it's fins. The short roof makes the rear end even more dramatic. I like it. Reminds me of some wild 59 chevs from the old days. The fact that it was built from a totally different looking body is pretty impressive. A quickie photoshop collage showing how it could have come from one of the little '60's mags. Dualatron, welcome to the HAMB. There are actually alot of builders here, we would sure like to see some build pics.
I still feel that different paint and a more subdued grill would do wonders for that car. Look at the white picture without the grill, the lines flow much better. A horizontal grill would really clean it up. JMHO
