Well I disconnected the fuel line from the input side of the fuel pump. Then I connected a new fuel line to the pump and put it in a jug. I started the car and then it ran like a dream. That lets me know the pump was ok.

The boy went to the movies with his best friend so I was all alone.

I pulled it out of the barn. the back tire was flat and would not take any air so it just separated from the rim. I am going to have to find a way to get the rear window down so I can get the tailgate down. My friend with a body shop said to bring it over and he would see what he could do with it.

Looks solid. The worst part appears to be the lower tailgate.

You are like me. My son and step son have been everywhere. Son's first swap meet and car show were at just over 7months old. Been to greaserama, pate swapmeet, springfield swap meet, and just recently Lonestar round up. they have it great. I never got to do anything like that as a kid. I used to beg that I wanted to go to the junky yard.:)

I used to go to gatlinburg rod run when i was a kid. I have a bunch of pics from the 70s when we went.

My dad used to take me riding on his panhead chopper then the honda 750 four and finally the kz 1000.

He had bad cars when I was a kid but he didn't go to a lot of car shows or junk yArds. He wasn't real mechanically inclined.
He used to laugh and say " I don't know how you came to love cars so much". I was just lucky i guess :):)

grab some that hold air and look for those steelies. If you were closer I'd give you some 14" wheels. Older wheels usually need some paint and derusting or leak down.

Well it is not exactly the look I am going for, but I may put 2 tires on the corvette Rallies on the rear and I am going to go look at 2 15x6 or 15x7 Radirs for the front.

After all you could get them in the late 60s...

Well we had a busy day. started on the brakes but we decided to get a new mastercylinder instead of rebuilding the old one. We got the tailgate open and the window down. We also soaked the hinge screws with P.B. Blaster.

The Master Cylinder will be here tomorrow.

My son and a good friend of mine cleaned all the glass. they were nasty by the time they were finished.

A good time was had by all :)

Sorry for the crappy cell pics.

Well the boy woke up today and the first thing out of his mouth was "Are we working on the wagon today?".

  18. at the age of your boy i did the same, sunday morn, dad's asleep, i just jumped onto his belly, 'Dad, let's go down to garage, you have some work to do on ya car!'

mmmm, yep, son.i love you, too...

I was looking at these pictures and I realized that with "Patina" being cool. I am one of the coolest people on here because my wagon has "Patina" out the ass.

    Action news update:

I am starting to think about an expression my dad used to say when things were getting difficult and that is" Thats like running uphill dragging a log". That meant you were getting nowhere fast.

Well yesterday an amigo of mine came out and helped again. before he got there I put the new master cylinder on ans lubed all of the doors so they open and shut better. I also changed the battery cable ends and started trying to take the tailgate loose.

I got 3 out of the 4 screws loose on one side and non loose on the other side using an impact driver. I sprayed them again and will try again today.

We got the rear brakes fixed and while doing the first front wheel we broke a hard line (another trip to the parts store).

My son wanted to go to his best friends house to play so I said that was cool. I don't want him to feel like he has to help all of the time anyway. Today we have a ball tournament starting today for my daughter and I will be in the stands for it whooping and hollering. I hope to get some stuff done before I take the family on vacation so we can come back and get to work on it.

Well looking back on this post it reminds me of another expression my dad used to say and that was "Don't worry about the mule just load the wagon" (usually right after he said that I had to work really hard as I was the mule :) )

    More to come!!

I didn't get to work on the wagon this weekend. Saturday we had base ball tournament and dance recitals (sp). We also spent about 4 hours mowing.

I should have worked on it yesterday but I was too tuckered out.

We have more baseball this evening hopefully that will be all.

Well good news! I ordered some new parts for the wagon that I thought I would need.

New radiator new hoses and belts and thermostat and a brake hose.

I will have the wife pick them up today and they will be waiting when I get home. I hope to get to put them on this evening. I won't get to work on it for about a week after today so hopefully I can make it count.

Well 7 days from today we will be heading out for Bowling green. The bad news is we won't be taking the wagon there is still too much to get done. If that was all I had to do it would still be hard to do it and make it safe. That being said we will still have a ton of fun.

I told Ethan we would just have to keep working on it to get it ready for next year. We should have it painted and the floor fixed and maybe even the interior done. We would finally be able to do what i wanted to do with it and have a family road car for trips to car shows and weekend trips.

Look for me at the Holiday inn Convention Center in the evenings Selling old magazines out of the back of my late model white Crewcab Chevy. I will have 50s and 60s car magazines and some early 70s as well.

If there's another show to go to soon make that your goal. no need to wait for a year! I was in the same boat my friend. Its disappointing but you'll get back on it.

Yeah there is a local cruise in and we will get to it soon but them we will probably try to make it nicer and just do it up. One of my friends has a body shop and we traded around some and he owes me a paint job with me helping of course. I also have some hot rod stuff i want to put on the motor and i also have some new full length floor pans for it.
