Damn. I’m a Ford guy, but those El Caminos and Chevelles look good to me! And that Stude Hawk! One of my favorite Studebakers!

Wish I could hit a lottery today!

"The Fort Collins, Colorado, man has spent the past half-century years amassing a collection of 325 cars in need of more than a little TLC." Crap. What the Hell's the point?

The point is he’s gonna make 3 to 5 times the amount of money that he bought them for over the years.

You can call it his visionary 401(k) and will profit quite significantly.

Maybe. Maybe he just had fun accumulating, or maybe he just liked keeping these cars away from folks who would have built and run them. I look at the picture with this statement "A 1959 Chevrolet Impala without an engine or transmission and it pretty bad shape overall has been bid over $45,000 at the time this story was written, with fully restored versions of the car worth well over $100,000." and I'm thinking you'll have a fully restored, non-numbers matching vehicle you put more into than it's worth when it's done. Whatever.

One thing to consider,, when you look around that section of the country, there is lots of room. Also little restrictive zoning. Where we live you line up 3 non runners and the locals want to be bothered by the eyesores.

He did what he wanted to do, now he is doing what he wants to do! Simple!

It’s just like I did, but I only got to 75!

  13. I should NOT have looked at the pictures/link to this!!!! Thanks Cobbie! LOL Now my mind is working overtime to figure out if I can fit any more inside the building:eek: I suffer from that ....I want one of each disease as well!

The Stude is cool, but a Golden Hawk is on my bucket list. One of those wagons like the 58 would look good in my building!

    God bless

  15. Hey Jeff,

One of the reasons I married her is that she loves the cars, cruises, shows & the hobby in general! She keeps me grounded, yet doesn't crab if I say ...I really want that one! LOL She is now wanting a Nash Metro, since it is basically a smaller version of my avatar car. Also since I took her to the Pontiac Nationals here locally @ Norwalk Raceway Park (Summit Motorsports Park) a couple of months ago & it was the 1st time she had ever been to a racetrack.....She now wants to run one of my cars down the track! I will probably put her in the OT XLR-V with the traction control button on & tell her to "Stab & Steer" 12.7 in the 1/4 from the factory will give her a big adrenaline rush!:D Hopefully she keeps it off the walls!

    God bless

There won’t be any good deals in this auction since it’s being run by Vanderbrink. The only people benefiting will be the seller and auctioneer.

I couldn’t help thinking that when he was collecting them, a lot were probably considered undesirable.
I wonder how many he saved from a crusher, and while he may not make much, (if anything), out of them, he is probably benefiting others by making them available to those that now want them.

  18. That '63 Stude is a beauty! If I didn't have too many damn cars already...

Went out for a quick walk around. Great weather is forecast for tomorrow, I'd expect a huge turnout.
There are some gems which will probably bring big money, and a few that aren't worth more than scrap value.
Quite the collection. Took a few pictures of a couple that caught my interest.
No engine in the turbo powered Corvair convertible, but it was fairly clean inside and in very good shape.

  22. Thank you Jeff!

Even though I am a member of several FB Nash/Hudson groups & the NCCA, this is the 1st of have heard of this place & I bookmarked it. If I ever head over that way, I will definitely stop by! I saw one on FB marketplace that was a really nice conv. I would have bought in a heartbeat for her normally, but.....

First things first...The Architect tells us our renovation/addition is almost double what we were originally hoping for price wise, so she will not get her Metro in the next 12 months, but she wants the house more, so no problem! LOL:p

The 1938 Ford Cabriolet sold for $6750, that was a really cool and buildable car for what I would consider a very reasonable price.

And if you were local and in the business of parting out cars, I think there was some pretty great deals on parts cars. If it was in my backyard, I certainly would have bid on a few of those parts vehicles.

On the other hand, the better of the two '59 Impala convertible projects sold for $88,500, with plenty of other project/builders bringing some pretty eye-watering prices. Colorado buyers were hungry for Impalas this weekend.

Yikes! That seems like crazy money for any project. I had a friend just sell a frame off restored 60 convertible with a 348 and tripower for $90,000 and thought that was a lot!

Some people have more money to spend than others.
Some people want something more than others and have the ability to buy it.
Some people have enough money that it doesn't make a difference in their decision to buy something or not.
Some people want to say I have one.
Some people don't care how much money they have or what they spend.
And live by if I want it....I'm buying it.

    Ain't life great.....
