Quiet, constant lurker with pic of the first ride in my AD. After retiring I decided that I wanted to have an AD. Body parts were collected from W. VA and OHIO ( fellow HAMBER's) and trucked to upstate NY. My two sons accrued a 1989 S-10 and the thrash began Nov.2006 in a two stall wooden garage. Nine months and change later it was trailered to me for final finish and wiring. Winter interfered in progress but yesterday I was able to drive it up and down the road. It's a compilation of parts..but i wanted it to be what I wanted. i like the vent windows, and I like the cab vents on both sides..lol I wanted the bed to be a full 8 feet so the both was sectioned and extended. Ash wood was used for the box floor ( from logs to finish). It's running a 4.3 with a four barrel, 700R4, Full length dual exhaust, and Blazer rear. Every bushing and suspenion part has been replaced. Late model Tilt column, electric leather s10 Blazer seats. Gauges are originals as is the heater. This was built from junkyard parts, leftovers, and horse-trading. a All brakets and mounts were hand made. All work from fab to paint was done by my sons ( A social worker and a maintenence engineer) evenings and weekends. A special Thanks to Cathy and Chris for keeping the shop warm and the beer cold. I built my first rod (38 Ford coupe) in 1964, in much the same manner. A special Barrel of appreciation goes to my wife, Reda for her tolerance and support. Thanks for reading..I'm off to do a few more finish tasks...Dan
Very cool Dan! Congrats to you and your family. I would love to pick yer brain on the details of the build for my 53 AD project.
Nice truck, and GOOD KIDS! You must have done something right with those two. I'll bet they had a blast doing that for dear old Dad. GV
