Even if they carry a full range of parts it can't be any worse than going into my local O'Really's (Parts Guys "That's the right part", Me "O'Really?"). The staff there cringes when I walk in, if they speak enough english to have dealt with me before. I actually asked, loudly, if there was anybody in the store who spoke FUCKING english one day, but that was after being asked "que?" 10 times in a row.

Besides, there's a Home Despot 2 tiny little blocks from my shop. And there's a super hot home depot chick.

  2. Wasn't that way in the early days... back when they were actually slightly threatened by the Ace Hardwares and the Tru-Values (I've worked at all 3, Depot last). They hired retired electricians and plumbers amd experienced people that formerly worked at Ace and Tru-value than knew what they were talking about. The tradesman took the jobs because they paid them well, they paid better than Ace and Tru-value too.

The people that work there now all just people off the street, because they pay the same (minimum wage) or less than the Ace and the Tru-value.

The people in the stores used to stock the shelves, they picked up and touched the products, maybe spent a little time reading the package... Now HD has coerced the companies whose products they stock, to have reps re-stock and keep their inventory for them. Home depot owns very little of what is on the shelves.

Hardware stores usually have a basic auto needs section, Like BornDead327 says, HD is just gonna have what most modern DIY guys do, wax, armour-all, and key rings. I'm guessing pet food and housewares next.

    Support locally-owned businesses!

Wal-mart used to own HomeDepot. But as I understand the gov stepped in and said break it up, which they barely did.

I was trying to come up with a good joke about this whole debacle, but I can't come up with a better joke than HomeDepot itself. SOrry.
