This handsome "prop" greeted us at the end of the pavement. We were quick and persistent in pointing out what a nice gesture it would be for the production company of "World's Fastest Indian" to donate this to BLM, SCTA-BNI, USFRA et al as a permanent display. The sign is a beauty, heavy-duty construction just like the real thing. Let's hope. I'll work up a report tomorrow. Lots of nifty stuff going on in both worlds, make-believe and the World Finals.
So hurry up and spill your guts. We've been waiting for the report. How did the F1 stand up to the trip? Frank
Hey Mike: didja see us out there on Wed. Oct. 6th at about 9AM ? We were in my green chev convert, talked our way out onto the salt, we were on our way to the pit area but took a detour towards the set. They were shooting near where the starting line is. They saw us coming and objected to our presence so we got the hell out of there. Bob
Is the smaller brown sign still there? Hey, your F-1 looks right at home at the salt. Any problems with the truck?
That is a beautiful truck and Hey! That billboard isn't half bad either.Thanx for the awesome pic .swaZZie
Rocky -- There's a small sign at the truck stop and a small one at the end of the pavement. The F-1 is fine, although it was a trailer queen along with all the other cars involved in the picture. Tardel provided 22 of the 80-plus cars used and all of them were treansported from Santa Rosa to Bonneville by Reliable Carriers, Inc. in two enclosed trailers and on one open haul-away. Trying to drive that many vintage vehicles to the Salt and have them arrive at the same time and ready to go to work would have been like herding cats.
The enclosed trailers carried seven cars each, and one car was trailered behind our own service truck. Our crew transport was a new '04 Chevy Suburban that performed like a champ, although its computer limited top speed to just a little over 100 mph.
Looks like a fun time Mike. Any more photos? Reliable hauls alot of neat stuff. I know one of the guys that owns Reliable. Al is a fairly wild guy.
Mike, thanks for the great pictures and report so far... BUT WE NEED MORE I hope you post the full story soon! JGH
