Looking for some ideas for a custom push style bumper. The type on the "push vehicles" normally used at Bonneville. If you have some let's see pics please!
this year at the texas thaw( might be pics on here) there was a 60 something c10, white, bagged, very cool truck. it had a push bumper on it. nothing crazy just looked nice and clean. im looking for a pic.......
Roger that thanks ahead of time. Was given an old truck, it's just not old emough for this message board lol. 1976 Ford Ranger F-250 Camper Special. I gotta do something to it! lol.
Look into fabbing up some brackets to go under the bumper and pickup the bumper bracket bolts. In front make a frame of 1.5" right angle material. Fill in the push part with 2 x 4 pieces. Or, place the angle material upside down and cover with alum plate. Some make their push board a separate piece with a trailer reciever, the male part, on it. Mount a female reciever part to the truck. The unit will be easily removeable. DW
My pushbar....TIGged up onto the rear spreader bar.......just for effect, of course.....not for really pushing.... Made from 1 1/4" thickwalled stainless tubing and not polished.... CB
Pays to read the whole first post in the thread Brucie and Flatman. He's talking about Push truck front bars in this one. I always wondered if guys who run the later trucks were going to start showing up at Bonneville with push bars on the front of their trucks for the "look" If they don't have a chopped coupe to hang a push bar and door numbers on to pose in. But having a strong running truck with a solid push bumper might get a guy a few new friends at Bonneville when you actually get to put it to use helping someone who didn't have a good push truck with them. I've thought about the hitch receiver under the bumper thing for one on the 71 if I ever get the planned race truck in shape to run.
there is a quick view of one at the beginning of this video, but the real fun starts at the 1:10 mark http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CU59SUocJoA later jim
