I just did that myself,
I picked up a couple beat up old Milwaukee portable band saws for dirt cheap at two different garage sales this summer.
'was able to make one decent one out of the two.
'already had one good one so this one got the table.
opted for a vise mount stand, a hunk of 1/4" plate, a short length of heavy wall 1-1/4" rectangle tube, a couple bits of angle and done, all for about the cost of a cup of coffee... well, plus a blade.
and the blade can be changed without taking the saw out of the stand
