After seeing Limey Kids Sports roadster thread, I thought I should not hijack his thread and post some pictures of my recent build that had a similar theme inspired by both Duffy Livingstons sports roadster and Jackie Howertons AMBR winning work of art.
This was a low buck build with many parts given to me by good friends.
The chassis is Essex rails with Model A crossmembers and rear spring. Front and rear axles are 33 Ford.
Brakes are 40 Ford rear and Crager rotors and Wilewood calipers mounted within the Mechanical brake drums.
The engine is stock 40 Ford with 62 Olds turbo. The cowl is 29 Ford with the rest of the body hand made, many made at annual Metalmeet.com meets in Oblong Ill.

Nice frame flow...What year Essex rails?
Tell me what you made your steering from, 100 more pix, please.:)
    '62 Olds turbo?
You guys must be busy at the metal meets.
Your own louver press? Think I counted 280, but couldn't see around all the neat corners!
    Extreme project. Like!

Just when I thought my skills were improving, you come and blow me out of the water!
I have had 2 pictures of your build saved for a couple of years now, don't know where I found them. They have been an inspiration to my build. I love the look of your roadster. If not for wanting to run ECTA Modified Roadster class, where the body has to be basically stock from the windshield back, I too would have made my own body using a Ford cowl of some year. Kin brilliant.
    Cheers,
    Stewart.

    Thanks for the commerts.
The Essex rails are of unknown vintage but suspect late 20s with added kickups.
The Olds F85 was available with turbo, similar to corvair.
Here are a few more pictures.
Uncle Johnny brought a louver press to Metalmeet and demonstrated on my panels.
The are one of the best features on the car and I thank him.

    Thanks again for the replies.
Uncle Johnny gave moral support on the nose, but I can't say that I am anything but a learning novice.
The Essex rails donated by Johnny Sparkle were side rails only with the front horns cut off.
    A few more shots.

Alright, I give in, you win.
It always pisses me off that sheet metal is smarter than I am. I weld it, or hammer it, and it always goes places I didn't expect it to, and not where I want it to!
    A very impressive build!
    Cheers,
    Stewart.

Limey Kid, Your car build prompted me to post these pictures. The people that helped me to shape metal have a statement...It's only Metal!!!
    Maybe some more pictures.
