Picked this guy up today, just got into speed equipment so I am very new to everything that isn't stock. I don't know anything about what kind of carburetors work well on downdraft for the model a, but this thing was $15 so I grabbed it at least for its peculiarity. Any thoughts on whether it'll work decently or not, and what kind of carbs would fit on it? The flange seems to be a weird shape, maybe it's not supposed to be that shape, or doesn't matter, I don't know! It seems to be decently made, the joints inside could be smoother but it seems like it won't have any leaks anywhere.
Don't know anything about that manifold, but i do know that you can flip an original manifold upside down and make an adapter or cut the flange off and weld a different flange to suit say a 94 or 97 Stromberg.. or whatever else you want.
My son made my intake ,i got a rebuilt carb, a late 40's early 50's single barrel ford about the same size as your flange . I got it started, ran right out of the box but never get to drive it cause i ended having to do a rebuild on the engine, when all i wanted to do was a cam change, valve guides were trash along with the valves oh well a fresh engine. O.K. its 2A.m. its 4 deg can't sleep, i just went to the garage and got the gasket it measures 2 3/4 center to center stud and 1 5/8 bore hope that helps good luck -------Jack
it's cool, but the three bolt are the way to go. then you can run strombergs 94,97,81. for that kinda money you could weld on another flange or make an adapter.
