I know plenty about scrub radius. Hot rods are imperfect.

Ignition stuff can be frustrating. I spent a lot of July in the garage with a volt meter I’ll say that much.

    This is drop dead sexy!
    Excellent quality build.
Sending you good ju-ju, to sort out the ignition gremlins.

I swapped out the coil (though I don't think that made the difference), found the idle mixture screws turned way out, and the throttle blade adjustment screw turned way open. Reset those and did get it to run for a few seconds a couple times this morning off of fuel I dumped in through the carb vents. Started checking fuel lines and it hasn't sucked a thing out of the tank yet. I'm going to get a little in line pump to try and get some fuel running through the lines and I think that will do it.

You can prime it with a shot of air in the filler neck, mechanical pumps generally don't need it though

  6. I have done this too and also needed to add a one way valve in the fuel line to prevent siphoning back into the tank leaving a dry line every morning.

Well, now that the fuel pump WHICH HAS “IN” STAMPED ON IT is properly hosed…it runs!!

It’s too late now to piss off the neighborhood. Forecast for tomorrow says rain but we’ll see…engine break in and a lap around the block tomorrow evening, weather permitting.

Always great to piss off neighbors. Teach them all to vote hot rods & any car changes ilegal

…which is why I didn’t do it? The car has full exhaust but I wasn’t about to run it in the driveway after 9pm

But since all their little children were running around in the street screaming by 10:30 this morning I figured I was safe. So I got break in done. But I’m still having trouble getting it to just flat run and idle. I’ve pretty much decided it’s a vacuum leak and am going to pull and reseal the intake.

At the other end of the car…spring clamps were too tall. I drew up and ordered these from Send Cut Send before I left for the roadster show, and they arrived yesterday. Tacked the spacers to the main bar and bolted them on. The car settled a good bit out back. Looks good but I think I might need to raise it, probably stack a couple short leaves at the very top…so I might not need the spacers, hence tacks only so far.

I have no intentions of turning another wrench or spending another discontinued penny on this car. Consider this the end of the build.

Sorry to hear that. Have followed and enjoyed your build since Day 1. I assume we will now see it listed in the HAMB Classifieds as a running, driving and stopping "project". Was looking forward to a "Roadtrip to the ROC" story at a later date.
