Hot Rods Hood fit between years?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 4ever17, May 28, 2009.

  1. If a 30-31 Model A had a 28-29 radiator and grill shell, would a hood top fit? What about the hood sides? Would you have to use one particuler year group to have it work?

    are they interchangable??

No. IMHO Cowl on the 30-31 is a bigger radius. Also I think the 30-31 hood is an inch longer. Are the 28-29 is an inch shorter.

  3. Measured down the middle of the hood top.

    28-29 hoods are 27 3/4"

    30-31 hoods are 31 5/8".

    32 hoods are 32".

You have to stick with the years noted for both hood tops and hood sides.

Even if you moved the radiator and shell forward the 30-31 wouldn't fit the cowl on the 28-29's.

Interestingly, ****pit measurements are virtually the same on all three series of cars with the major difference being the 32 ****pit is 2" deeper.

  4. Thanks for all the info guys.

    Question here...
    will a 30/31 Hood fit between a 30/31 cowl and a 32 grill shell?

Run a 32 grill shell and a 31 radiator, all you do is trim the lower sides aboat an inch , and everthing else works, including a 30-31 hood.
