Very difficult, and scary. Think I clamped the hinge in the largest bench vise I had, and then stretched the new spring out using a long pry bar with a metal hook, easing it back to the hinge. But, I can't be sure...... was cussing out Ron and had my eyes closed most of the time. ;)

YEah thats pretty much the same thing ive been doing. But the brings slips down the prybar and everything goes into orbit as soon as i get close to hooking it. Im trying to do it with the hinges on the car, I think they need to come off to do it for sure.cheers

might be easier with them off the car, but i have no useful info on how to do it.

I remember seeing a floorjack used to stretch the spring out then washers sliped into the coils to keep the spring stretched out then install spring, then bring the hood down and remove the washers. Not sure if it will work here and can't remember where I saw that trick. Let us know what you decide to do. Gerry

Yeah.haha i tried that. I pulled the spring apart and shoved quarters in each coil, but made the spring start to "bananana". However i did get them installed today with a few bruises. I took a 2x4 and drilled a hole halfway through with a 1/2" bit. Then i had a 1/2' rod that i cut a v notch on one end and stuck they other end in the 2x4 hole. Inserted the rod through the spring and set the v notch on the hook and the 2x4 side across my chest. The used my body weight to expand the spring. If that makes sense;..A few close calls but i finally got it.Cheers
