Technical Hood hinge, restoration vendor needed

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by michaelantonia, Apr 15, 2024.

  1. Hi, Looking for some help restoring a pair of hood hinges for a 41 Lincoln. I’ve called the following people and it sounds like they’re either semi retired or up to their eyeballs in projects

    ROLAND HALL
    WILLIE WILSON
    LEVER FAMILY

anyone out there doing this work or know of someone who would like to take it on? The hinges themselves are fine. It’s just the rivets are worn so they need to be drilled out, honed, fitted with new rivets. This car is a driver, so I’m not too fussy about concourse quality restoration, I would much prefer to just paint them and get it back on the road as soon as possible. I have new springs it’s just the rivets that need work. IMG_7115.jpeg
    Thanks in advance! -MICHAEL

  2. Mamma Mia, that's a lot of rivets!
Have you thought about drilling and reaming them out, one at a time, and replacing with shoulder bolts?

Just so you know if you end up doing them solo, they can't be a super-precision fit, they need a little slop in em to aid centering when closing. 2 Continentals an a Zephyr have told me so. Good luck.
