Picked up a couple of hood ornaments at at yard sale while on a RV trip on the central coast. Based on the numbers on one I was able to determine it was from a '50 Buick but I need the HAMB's help on this one. It has the number GMC 4 on the back side but nothing else to help with an ID. It's 16 inches long as shown in the photo. Thanks in advance. 2hhood5.jpg 2hood1.jpg 2hood2.jpg 2hood3.jpg 2hood4.jpg

Thanks to all. I'm thinking '51 Chevy as @Nailhead Jason and @carolina chevrolet have posted. The Oldsmobile Rocket ornaments I've seen have 2 "rockets" on them not a single one like the one I have. I'm also thinking an after market as @Penetrator posted. The GMC 4 number doesn't sound like a GM number more like an after market one but that's just a guess on my part.

Thanks. Good info. Now I just need to find a '51 Chevy guy who wants a hood ornament.

Thanks for the info. Just looked again at the underside and no number other than the
G M C 4 in the photo I posted. I did see a reference to an ornament with a G M C 2 number on the auction site. Not really a GM guy so I have no idea about part numbers.
