Just bought this off ebay...thought it was cool. Was listed as a Buick ornament but I don't think it is. Anyone know the orgin of this? Aftermarket?

Probably came off of a Buick but more likely is after market made by a company like Gem or Compco.:) :D

Aftermarket. I'd think Olds though cuz of the rocket deal, but pretty sure it's not OEM anything.

Seems like there was a post on here a few years ago, and someone had scanned a page from a catalog, showing it being aftermarket. Pretty cool score regardless

  5. those were after market. My mom made me put one on her 61 Olds f-85 wagon, used to see them in ads like JC WHITNEY that's the only other one I've seen. I don't think they were a hot item, but what do I know I was raised in So. Ca. might have been big on the east coast haha

yeah,i wanna say it's an aftermarket one. A buddy of mine had something similar on his 54 ford (the guy i mentioned earlier with a 390) but his was newer and the tail would spin when wind went through it..his was obviously chrome plastic, i think it was one of those that you see in wal-mart and k-mart and the like next to the light up mirror dice and shift knobs
    creepy
