I am trying to help a friend procure the pieces I thought I previously saw where in you can purchase parts that allow you to bold the sides of a 32 hood down to the frame instead of fenders. He is trying to do a highway. Any one aware of some thing out there as many guys are now running without fenders thanks Mercuryguy

Here’s some on one of Carly moodys roadsters. You can find her on IG and Youtube.

I didn’t find any specific mention of whether she made or bought them but I’m gonna guess she built them.

Just another route to go. These and snapped from video sorry for the quality. I think there may be a small vertical piece on the bottom
That lays on the outside face of the rail. But I’m not sure. IMG_5817.jpeg IMG_5818.jpeg IMG_5819.png IMG_5820.jpeg

Hers just looks like a simple piece of flat bar cut, drilled and dressed to work. I'd agree that there may be a gusset on it though.

One could make their own version of that 200 dollar setup out of pieces out of the s**** bin for free though. That is pretty but way out of my budget level.

  8. The one from a Model A might work and probably available under $200 (way under). There is no bracket for the rear hood latch on my '32. The front hood latch bolts through the frame. IMG_8387.jpeg

I built my first deuce highboy roadster in 73-74 and have lost count how many have left my shop since then. I made a simple flat plate out of 1/4 inch flat metal, determined the needed length, shaped the outer end for the hook and drilled a couple 1/4 inch holes to hold the hook and **** welded the plate to the rails flush with the top of the rail. Cost was next to nothing. The last few years I have bought ready made plates from So-Cal or Roadster supply. Part # RSC 62161 $20 a pair.

I mated a straight one and a curved one to make this.

Made the ones on my Tudor from stainless so I can remove them.

I used the Model A brackets also. Cut off the bottom part and used the remaining two holes to mount to the frame. The hood retainers mount to the two slotted holes. Makes a simple stock looking piece.

The reason I didn't use the Featherlite type latch was that the Featherlite would not extend long enough to reach the hood brackets, on my already finished rod.
Instead, I cut the curve off the Featherlite latch and welded it to the straight rod on my 32 repro latch to make it longer.
