Where's the guy that has the low '50 Merc with stock roof, no rear skirts, and NO HOOD with a blower mocked up? That thing was bad ***.

  3. In my younger days having the Hood off ment 1 of 2 things. We had just installed something Bad *** and wanted all our Buds to know about it, Or= We had a problem and weren't finished working it out. This was if your car was 41 and newer. 40 and Older and you had the option to run Hoodless, that was Kool. Myself, I did a lot of Street racing and I never wanted people to know what I had. When asked I always played it down, It's more insulting to get beat by a stock 283 than a built 327. The most fun I had was with a 57 ford 2d Wagon with a 427 side oiler and a 4 speed on the Column. I told everyone it was a 352 with Overdrive.

I dont even understand the thought of running with no hood on anything newer than 1940, it just looks plain rediculous. But so does driving around in a rusted out P.O.S., but that dosent stop some poeple......

    smokingDave,

Leave the hood on they look so cool that way. The only way to run without a hood is because you don't have one..............

im thinking of running my 51 with the hood off to. but i figured when its 120 out side it will help it breathe better. i could be wrong but thats my theory and im sticking to it.

I ran hoodless for a while, because the hood kept popping up and it was a h***le unchaining it all the time to check the oil, water etc.

    Do what makes you happy.

I had mine off for awhile when I first finished it and then I put a hood on it. I have to say I kind of liked it off the car, but there are reasons why I like it on also. No need to please anyone else...

And here is a pic for you to contemplate as you originally requested in this post.

never liked it much...never understood all of the kustom styled cars running no hoods...what's the point in that? if your car is a hotrod, then leave the hood but maybe cut out (and reinforce) the center of the hood directly over the motor...think of kutty noteboom's truck..had a formed piece of plexi set into the center..was rad and kept the lines...if you do cut the center, that ***** better be poking up out of it though
