Nothing wrong with a race car being on a trailer or ramp truck. I normally would give you a bunch of crap over it but race cars are a different breed of animal.

ya gonna build a ramp truck?

Yes, it's going to have ramps with a pivot. The engine of the hoodlum will ride from in front of the trucks rear axel to just behind the cab.The car is 128 inches long,we've been knocking heads and have come up with a plan.

    That would be cool.

  3. Cool. Ramp trucks are as trad as it gets.

OK now find me something to give you crap about I don't think I have made you real mad at me yet. ;)

After 60 I've became a kinder gentler Dick.

  5. Damn it I'm on a mission to make everyone on the HAMB mad at me at least once. The one's that don't stay mad I keep and the rest of them I didn't need anyway. Guess I'll have to come up with a new plan. ;)

I like the way the hoodlum hauler came out BTW. Can't put my finger on it for sure but I have either seen something like it or read about something built about that same shape in one racing venue or another in my travels.

I have the 51 frame rails from the original hoodlum parts car. They are for the 32 Chevy coupe that's in line.I've been triming brackets off of it and using them here on the GMC.These made sadle mounts and
    [IMG]

these made good front cab mounts.Did'nt even have to trim the passenger side.

GMC mounting point. That's the factory bolt.

    Bracket tacked in.

We'll pull the cab once more and weld off the new mounts.Rear mounts tomorrow.

Got after the rear mounts this evening. You can see the frame mount does not line up with the body mount. That circle up in the right corner of the cab is the factory mount. The body was hung on shackles.

Time to move the stock frame mount.

Tools for removing rivots.Cut the head off.Drill a ways in, use a lot of oil.

Knock out with a big hammer and punch.

    Cut straps.Drill holes.

    Technical measurment to find half.

    Half.

Weld the strap to the original frame mount and the mount to the frame.

    Mounted on the new chassis.

That wasn't to bad for a 55 cab to 69 frame swap.

Probably would have been easier with a "small" cab, they use normal mounts instead of shackles.

Sure is a lot of daylight around that front tire....neat big fenders!

The tires will be a bit taller and there is no engine weight on it yet. That will help. This big cab is fine,it was left overs after the 302.For what I have in this I'm smiling.

Got after the brake pedal and master cylinder mounts. This is a 69 unit.

Cut it down so it would fit between the fire wall and dash.

Stole a piece of the stock column drop.It matches the bolt pattern for the dash.

Welded it to the mount where the face was cut off.

Template for new holes in the fire wall.

    Good pedal position.

Some where between that slot and the hole above it will be the steering columns new home. That's next.Tomorrow I have to fire up the 283 to see about a trade:)

  17. Yes folks, from the mad mind of our Art Director, another killer build. He had some insperation from a trailer sitting at a old school shop very near his house that once held a vintage race machine. And just when the 32 Chevy coupe project was front and center this project jumped up and took first priority. The 32 was cut into a few pieces, frame stripped and seperated, and the Hoodlum Hauler was off and runnin. I have been extremely fortunate to be excepted into this group of, get er done, dudes. They are the best at helpin a brother any time its needed. This hauler has my blood racing, that U.S. Army cab is really loaded with unique features the public will enjoy. Stay tuned for, who knows! ~sololobo~

Mostly welding and grinding on the firewall and floor.Over 60 holes filled to date.Shop #10 machined some hinges for the ramps. Thanks Rod.I've been trying to find another Chevy or GMC,55 to 59 to use for a daily driver. Went up and looked at a 56 GMC near Souix City for 5k. I would'nt of offered him $500.00,what a POS. Don't need any wheels as of now. Thanks for the offer. If your on I80 I'm about 6 blocks from the 42nd street exit.Stop in and say hello.

Got a SBC and a turbo 350 this week and a steering column.I'm back to work on it because I sold my ot pickup.I was on the hunt for a new daily driver. We spent a lot of waisted time driving thru 4 states looking at rusty pieces of overpriced crap. Finally got a cool little 54 belair. So that's what's been taking up my time.I need a truck so it's back to work on the hauler.I'll be getting after it hard the next few weeks. The new to me 54.

I got the engine mounted and the steering hooked up.

Chevy Astro Van joints from u-pull-it hooked the column to the box with out a lot of trouble.

Even with a lot of room in the engine bay stuff still has to fit in tight spaces.

A few mods to install stock motor mounts.

Fire wall and tranny hump mods.
